Eastbound I-4 and Multiple Interchange Ramps Closing at Night
All eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) travel lanes between Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414) and Central Parkway are shifting to the new permanent configuration as soon as the morning of Sunday, January 20.
Multiple ramps also will be slightly reconfigured as part of this shift. The eastbound I-4 entrance ramps from both Maitland Boulevard and State Road (S.R.) 436 will realign and require motorists to merge sooner than the previous ramps. The eastbound I-4 exit ramp to S.R. 436 will largely remain unchanged.
To accommodate the shift, eastbound I-4 between Maitland Boulevard and S.R. 434, the eastbound I-4 ramps at the S.R. 436 interchange, and the eastbound I-4 exit ramp to S.R. 434 are closing from 12 a.m. through 7 a.m. on Sunday, January 20. The eastbound I-4 entrance ramps from Maitland Boulevard will close from 9 p.m. on January 19 until 5 a.m. Sunday morning.

In the event of a weather delay, the traffic shift and closures would be rescheduled to begin on the night of Sunday, January 20. The new eastbound I-4 configuration would be open by 5 a.m. on January 21. The closures would begin on the night of January 20 with slightly different start and end times:
- Eastbound I-4 between Maitland Boulevard and State Road 434, the eastbound I-4 on ramps from the S.R. 436 interchange, and the eastbound I-4 exit ramp to S.R. 434 would close from 10 p.m. on January 20 until 5 a.m. the following morning.
- Eastbound I-4 entrance ramps from Maitland Boulevard would close from 7 p.m. on January 20 until 5 a.m. the following morning.
- Eastbound I-4 exit ramp to S.R. 436 would close from 8:30 p.m. on January 20 until 5 a.m. the following morning.
This eastbound I-4 shift follows one that occurred earlier in January between S.R. 434 and the project’s eastern limits. In spring of 2019, the stretch of new eastbound I-4 between Central Parkway and S.R. 434 is scheduled to open and link the permanent portions of eastbound I-4.
Modifications or extensions to these schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.
