U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) today released the following statement after additional members of the South Florida Water Management District Board submitted letters of resignations:
“With today’s resignations, Governor Ron DeSantis now has a historic opportunity to completely remake the South Florida Water Management District into an organization that is truly transparent and accountable to the people of Florida. Together, we will do much more to protect the environment and health of the people in our state.”
With these resignations, and after two additional terms expire in March, 2019, Governor DeSantis will now be able to appoint all nine seats on the board. This week he announced the nominations of Chauncey Goss and Ron Bergeron to fill two of the open seats.
