Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier issued the following statement following today’s Senate Banking and Insurance Committee’s meeting:
Commissioner Altmaier said:
“I would like to thank Chair Broxson for his leadership on this issue and his continued efforts to bring all stakeholders to the table while keeping Florida’s policyholders at the forefront of our AOB discussions.
“We are at the precipice of a preventable issue that continues to have an adverse impact on Florida’s policyholders in the form of an insurance product availability and affordability crisis. If we continue on this path, we will be handcuffing Floridians and their ability to recover from the next major hurricane event that occurs. Addressing this crisis must remain a top priority during the 2019 Legislative Session.
“I appreciate the level of attention AOB abuse has received from our state’s leaders and look forward to joining everyone’s continued efforts to protect Floridians.”
