The Florida House Health Quality Subcommittee today passed HB 821 by Representative Cary Pigman (R-Sebring), related to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses autonomous practice.
The Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists (FANA) released the following statement regarding the passage of the bill.
“We applaud Chairwoman Colleen Burton and members of the House Health Quality Subcommittee for passing HB 821 which will allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to practice to the full extent of their education and training.
“Historically, Florida’s laws did not contemplate the sophisticated education and training APRNs, including CRNAs receive today.
“We thank Representative Cary Pigman for his leadership and hard work on this initiative which will allow APRNs and CRNAs to provide safe, low cost, quality health care to patients—particularly in rural areas that have limited access to health providers—without physician supervision or protocols.”
