Work on eastbound lanes and flyover bridge to start Sunday night
Drivers who use Sand Lake Road (State Road 482) will experience a new traffic pattern and nighttime lane closures Sunday, March 17.
Beginning after 8 p.m., eastbound traffic from west of Greenbriar Parkway to west of John Young Parkway (State Road 423) will start being moved north onto the newly paved travel lanes. The full traffic shift is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. Monday, March 18. The new configuration will allow work to begin on the future eastbound lanes in that area.
Also on Sunday night, the contractor will be pouring a portion of the concrete deck for the John Young Parkway flyover bridge. During this time, motorists should expect lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen and reconstruct Sand Lake Road from west of International Drive to east of Florida’s Turnpike.
Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Project updates will be posted to FDOT’s Central Florida website, www.cflroads.com.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
