UT Recognized for Excellence in Supporting Transfer Students

Posted on March 28, 2019

The University of Tampa has been named to Phi Theta Kappa’s 2019 Transfer Honor Roll, which identifies the top four-year colleges and universities that create dynamic pathways to support transfer students.

UT is one of only 78 institutions nationwide selected to receive this honor. This distinguished honor is awarded to the top 25 percent of colleges who earned the highest transfer friendliness ratings.

Other Florida schools on the honor roll include Eckerd College and Rollins College.

“The Transfer Honor Roll reflects the growing importance of recognizing and responding to the needs of transfer students,” Phi Theta Kappa president and CEO Lynn Tincher-Ladner said. “We know community college transfer students perform as well as or better than non-transfer students at four-year colleges. It’s more important than ever before to highlight what these colleges are doing right to promote transfer success and to encourage others to follow suit.”

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, MS, is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 nations.

The University of Tampa is a private, residential university located on 110 acres on the riverfront in downtown Tampa. Known for academic excellence, personal attention and real-world experience in its undergraduate and graduate programs, the University serves approximately 9,300 students from 50 states and 132 countries. Approximately 62 percent of full-time students live on campus, and more than half of UT students are from Florida.
