Lee Massie New Special Agent in Charge of FDLE Orlando

Posted on April 2, 2019

FDLE announced today that Lee Massie has been appointed special agent in charge of the Orlando Regional Operations Center. Beginning April 5, SAC Massie will oversee all investigative and administrative operations for the nine-county Orlando region.

“I am pleased to welcome a law enforcement professional of Lee Massie’s caliber to our team,” said Commissioner Rick Swearingen. “His diverse leadership experience serving the Central Florida area will be a key asset to FDLE in keeping citizens and visitors safe.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for me and one with great responsibility,” said Massie. “I look forward to working with the wonderful members at FDLE and continuing to strengthen our initiatives and partnerships in the Central Florida region.”

Massie has served in law enforcement for more than 30 years. His career started at the Winter Garden Police Department in 1984 before he was hired by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in 1986, retiring as a captain in 2012. During his tenure at the Orange County SO, Massie worked in several areas including patrol, narcotics, specialized patrol and intelligence. He was also part of the team that developed the Central Florida Intelligence eXchange (Fusion Center) and served as its director for two years.

He served as the interim chief of police for the Windermere Police Department and was appointed chief of police for the Kissimmee Police Department from 2012-2016. After leaving Kissimmee PD, Massie was hired as the managing director for Valencia College’s School of Public Safety Criminal Justice Institute.
