Governor Ron DeSantis, joined by First Lady Casey DeSantis, today spoke at the Captains for Clean Water Skiff Challenge kickoff. The Captains for Clean Water Skiff Challenge is an annual test of endurance in which teams circumnavigate the state to highlight the need to protect Florida’s water quality, Everglades and environment.
“It was great to help kickoff the Skiff Challenge today, an event to raise awareness to the unique environmental challenges facing Florida,” said Governor DeSantis. “Given the persistent water issues we have seen over the past several years, the time to act is now. I thank Captains for Clean Water for their support in our efforts to improve our water quality and ensure that our children inherit an environment that is pristine.”
During the Captains for Clean Water Skiff Challenge, skiff manufacturers put their boats and best teams to the ultimate endurance test, circumnavigating the state of Florida in a nonstop race from Pensacola to Jacksonville, a total of 1,300 miles.
