Volunteer Florida and Uber announced that the fourth annual Suits for Session service project will be held on the Second Floor Rotunda at the Florida Capitol on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 9 am to 5 pm (ET).
Suits for Session engages legislators and staff, state agency employees and other local professionals to collect new or gently-worn business attire. This year, the items will be donated to organizations in the Florida Panhandle that are supporting individuals re-entering the workforce after Hurricane Michael.
Tallahassee residents and visitors who are unable to be at the Capitol on April 11 can still participate in Suits for Session by using the Uber app between 9 am and 4 pm (ET) that day. They simply select “GIVE” at the bottom of the screen, and an Uber driver will pick up and deliver their donations.
Governor Ron DeSantis said, “Since taking office, Casey and I have made several trips to Northwest Florida and secured an historic 45 days of 100 percent federal funding reimbursement for counties impacted by Hurricane Michael. I commend Suits for Session’s mission to empower and support our fellow Floridians as they seek to re-enter the workforce and rebuild amid ongoing recovery efforts.”
Volunteer Florida CEO Clay Ingram said, “Volunteer Florida is especially proud to host Suits for Session this year. Through our partnership with Uber, we will help our family, friends and neighbors in the panhandle gain the confidence they need to land good jobs and ultimately get back on their feet.”
Head of Uber South U.S. Kasra Moshkani said, “This year more than ever, we are proud to partner with Suits for Session Capitol service project in support of individuals re-entering the workforce after Hurricane Michael. Uber and our driver partners make donating easy and convenient for Uber users to support our communities.”
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Suits for Session is an opportunity to connect people with the resources needed to make a good first impression and to empower them on their path to take charge of their economic future. Creating a strong and diverse workforce will foster a robust economy which benefits all Floridians.”
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “Suits for Session is a great project to help people trying to reenter the workforce, and I am especially grateful that this year’s donations will go to those trying to recover following Hurricane Michael.”
Florida Senate President Bill Galvano said, “Finding affordable attire for the workplace can be overwhelming for someone who is just starting out, in the midst of a career transition, returning to the workforce, or rebuilding their life after a devastating event like Hurricane Michael. We want job-seekers to have the resources they need to feel confident in both job interviews and in a new work environment. I appreciate Volunteer Florida’s commitment to this important effort.”
Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Jose Oliva said, “I support and applaud Volunteer Florida in their Suits for Session program. First impressions are vital to the success of young men and young women entering the workforce as well as those older folks perhaps returning to the workforce. I’d encourage the entire House of Representatives to consider donating suits to the cause and wish Volunteer Florida all the best success.”
The following men’s and women’s items will be accepted:
- Full suits

About Uber
Uber’s mission is to bring reliable transportation to everywhere, for everyone. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get a ride at the touch of a button? More than eight years and five billion trips later, we’ve started tackling an even greater challenge: reducing congestion and pollution in our cities by getting more people into fewer cars.
