Governor Ron DeSantis Calls for Lower Prescription Drugs in Sun City Center

Posted on April 8, 2019

Governor Ron DeSantis today touted his proposal to lower prescription drug prices in Florida by working with federal officials and the Florida legislature to create a drug importation program to bring less expensive, FDA approved prescription drugs from Canada. The Governor was joined by Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Mary Mayhew, Senator Aaron Bean and Representative Tom Leek.

“The United States pays more for prescription drugs than anywhere else in the world. In Florida, we can change that by employing safe, common sense solutions such as importing FDA approved prescription drugs from Canada,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “I look forward to working with the legislature over the next few weeks to get this done. At the end of the day, the status quo is unacceptable.”
