Palm Beach County traffic will be affected this week by ongoing construction projects and maintenance work, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) officials report. Weather permitting; closures will be in effect on I-95 and in other areas throughout Palm Beach County for construction activities.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
INTERSTATE 95
I-95 Interchange from Hillsboro Boulevard to SW 10th Street
Description: Work on this 1.5-mile interim interchange improvement project includes widening I-95 southbound to add an auxiliary lane from the Hillsboro Boulevard entrance ramp to the SW 10th Street exit ramp, widening the existing I-95 southbound exit ramp to SW 10th Street, addition of a free-flow right turn lane to westbound SW 10th Street and widening of westbound SW 10th Street to add an acceleration lane.
Cost/Completion: $4.5 million. Completion is expected in April 2019.

I-95 from south of SW 10th Street to south of Glades Road (95 Express Phase 3B-1)
Description: Work on this 4.8-mile 95 Express project includes widening and converting the existing I-95 HOV Lanes to Managed Lanes which will result in two tolled Express Lanes in each direction; the number of General Use lanes will remain the same. Other project improvements include bridge widenings at Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real, complete bridge replacement at the Hillsboro Canal, noise wall construction, portable traffic monitoring sites, toll gantry installation, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) installation, ramp signaling at the I-95 entrance ramps from Palmetto Park Road, Express Lane markers and landscape relocation.
Cost/Completion: $102 million. Completion is expected in spring 2020.
Traffic Impact:
- I-95 will have three lanes closed in each direction nightly, as needed, Sunday through Thursday, between SW 10th Street and Glades Road, with the first lane closing at 9:30 p.m., the second lane closing at 10:30 p.m., and the third lane closing at 11:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m.
- Palmetto Park Road at I-95 will have two lanes closed in each direction nightly, as needed, Sunday through Thursday. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., and the second lane will close at 10:30 p.m. All lanes will be opened by 5:30 a.m.
- Palmetto Park Road at I-95 will have one lane closed in each direction daily, as needed, 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Camino Real at I-95 will have one lane closed in each direction daily, as needed, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Full Closure Advanced Notice: Camino Real at I-95 will undergo a complete closure for new bridge deck construction, 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday night, April 21 and Sunday night, April 28. Traffic will be detoured via Military Trail, Palmetto Park Road, and SW 12th Avenue. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Please see detour flyer attached.
- The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Palmetto Park Road will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via I-95 northbound, Hillsboro Boulevard, and Military Trail. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
- The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Palmetto Park Road eastbound spur ramp will be closed daily, 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, through April. Motorists can access eastbound Palmetto Park Road via a right turn at the westbound traffic signal.
- The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from westbound Palmetto Park Road will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via Military Trail and Hillsboro Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
- The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from eastbound Palmetto Park Road will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via Military Trail and Hillsboro Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
- The northbound entrance ramp from eastbound and westbound Palmetto Park Road will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via I-95 southbound to Hillsboro Boulevard to I-95 northbound.
- The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from eastbound Hillsboro Boulevard will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via Military Trail and Palmetto Park Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
- The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from westbound Hillsboro Boulevard will be closed nightly, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Motorists will be detoured via Military Trail and Palmetto Park Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. I-95 Interchange Improvements at Atlantic Avenue
Description: Work includes widening the I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Atlantic Avenue, creating a dedicated lane for I-95 northbound and southbound access from westbound Atlantic Avenue, construction of two turn lanes from westbound Atlantic Avenue; one to northbound Congress Avenue and one to southbound Congress Avenue, milling, resurfacing, pavement markings for improved safety and visibility, realigned crosswalks for improved pedestrian safety, internally illuminated and electronic display signs, signalization, pedestrian detectors, and traffic monitoring sites. Pavement markings for bike lanes will be included throughout the project.
Cost/Completion: $5.2 million. Completion is expected in spring 2020.
Traffic Impact:
- Atlantic Avenue, from 12th Avenue to NW 23rd Avenue will have one through lane closed through December 2019.
- The Atlantic Avenue north sidewalk from 12th Avenue to NW 23rd Avenue is closed completely for roadway reconstruction. Pedestrians will be detoured to the south sidewalk via existing crosswalks.

I-95 Milling & Resurfacing from north of Atlantic Avenue to north of Gateway Boulevard
Description: This 7.66-mile milling and resurfacing project includes drainage improvements, new guardrail installation, rumble strips, signing and pavement markings and traffic monitoring site installation along I-95. Other improvements at select ramps along the corridor include: curb and gutter, sidewalks, and detectable warnings.
Cost/Completion: $15 million. Completion is expected in spring 2020.
Traffic Impact:
- I-95 between Atlantic Avenue and Gateway Boulevard will have up to three lanes closed in each direction nightly, as needed, Sunday through Thursday, with the first lane closing at 9 p.m., the second lane closing at 10 p.m., and the third lane, if needed, closing at 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.
- The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard will be closed nightly, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via US 1 to Gateway Boulevard and west to I-95. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Congress Avenue north to Gateway Boulevard and east to I-95.
- The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard will be closed nightly, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via US 1, south to Woolbright Road and west to I-95. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Congress Avenue, south to Woolbright Road, and east to I-95.
- The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard will be closed nightly, 11:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Southbound traffic will be detoured via Woolbright Road to Congress Avenue or via US 1 and Boynton Beach Boulevard.
- The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard will be closed nightly, 11:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday morning. I-95 northbound traffic will be detoured via Gateway Boulevard to Congress Avenue or via US1 and Boynton Beach Boulevard.
- The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Woolbright Road will be closed nightly, 11:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday morning. I-95 northbound traffic will be detoured via Boynton Beach Boulevard to Congress Avenue or via US 1 and Woolbright Road.
- The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Woolbright Road will be closed nightly, 11:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday morning. I-95 south bound traffic will be detoured via Boynton Beach Boulevard to Congress Avenue or via US 1 and Woolbright Road.
- The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Gateway Boulevard will be closed nightly, as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via Hypoluxo Road, US 1 and I-95. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Hypoluxo Road, Congress Avenue and I-95.
- The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from Gateway Boulevard will be closed nightly, as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via US 1, Woolbright Road and I-95. Westbound traffic will be detoured via Congress Avenue, Woolbright Road and I-95.
- The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Gateway Boulevard will be closed nightly, as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Southbound traffic will be detoured via Hypoluxo Road to Congress Avenue or via US 1 and Gateway Boulevard.

I-95 Interchange Improvements at Woolbright Road
Description: Work includes widening Woolbright Road from SW 18th Street to SW 2nd Street, including roadway approaches and bridges over I-95 and the railroad tracks to provide dual eastbound left turn lanes onto northbound I-95, widening the I-95 northbound entrance ramp to receive the newly constructed dual eastbound left turn lanes, reconstructing the I-95 southbound exit ramp to provide a free-flow right turn onto westbound Woolbright Road.
Cost/Completion: $9.1 million. Completion is expected in April 2019.

I-95 Interchange at Hypoluxo Road
Description: Work on this interim interchange improvement project includes reconfiguring the existing roadway approaches and bridges over I-95 and the CSX railroad tracks, constructing dual eastbound left turn lanes onto I-95 and widening the existing I-95 southbound exit ramp to lengthen the turn lanes.
Cost/Completion: $4.85 million. Completion is expected in April 2019.

I-95 Interchange Improvements at 10th Avenue North
Description: Work includes widening 10th Avenue North from Barnett Drive to “A” Street, including roadway approaches and bridges over I-95 and the railroad tracks to provide dual eastbound turn lanes onto I-95, widening the I-95 northbound entrance ramp to receive the newly constructed dual eastbound left turn lanes and widening the existing three-lane I-95 southbound exit ramp to four lanes to provide dual left and dual right turns.
Cost/Completion: $11.2 million. Completion is expected in April 2019.

I-95 Interchange Improvements at Donald Ross Road
Description: This interim interchange improvement project includes widening the I-95 northbound exit ramp and the I-95 southbound exit to accommodate a triple right turn and a triple left turn to eastbound Donald Ross Road, modifying lanes on Donald Ross Road to provide a triple left turn onto the I-95 southbound entrance ramp, widening the southbound entrance ramp to I-95 to accommodate the triple left turn from Donald Ross Road and removing old asphalt and resurfacing existing pavement.
Cost/Completion: $2.9 million. Completion is expected in April 2019.

I-95 Resurfacing from Indiantown Road to Bridge Road
Description: I-95 is being resurfaced from south of Indiantown Road (State Road 706) in the Town of Jupiter to north of Bridge Road (County Road 708) in Martin County. Improvements under this 9.8-mile project consist of resurfacing I-95 mainline from south of Indiantown Road (SR 706) to north of Bridge Road (CR 708) and the I-95 interchange ramps at Indiantown Road (Exit 87) and Bridge Road (Exit 96), and minor shoulder and guardrail repairs.
Cost/Completion: $17.18 million. Completion is expected in spring 2019.
Traffic Impact:
- Up to two lanes in either direction of I-95 from Indiantown Road to Bridge Road will be closed Sunday through Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving.
SOUTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY PROJECTS
Palmetto Park Road, from State Road 7 to NW 2nd Avenue
Description: This 6.279-mile improvements project began Friday, Apr. 20, 2018, in Boca Raton. Work includeswidening the existing shared-use path & installing new curb ramps to meet current ADA standards, improving pedestrian and bicyclist access to mass transit options along Palmetto Park Road, minor roadway resurfacing at various side streets, and widening the westbound turn lane at Cardinal Avenue’s entrance to the Boca Raton Museum of Art School. The work will take place on the south side of the roadway, parallel to the eastbound lanes, from State Road 7 to NW 12th Avenue, and on both sides of the roadway from NW 12th Avenue to NW 2nd Avenue.
Cost/Completion: $4 million. Completion is expected in summer 2019.
Traffic Impact:
- The outside eastbound lane, between Lyons Road and Military Trail, may be closed, around-the-clock, Monday through Friday, for pathway removal, slope preparation, sod placement, milling & resurfacing of side streets, and sidewalk ramp improvements. Work will be done in sections, with the location of the closures shifting as needed within these zones. Please note, work is taking place in the vicinity of the bus stops at Boca Del Mar Drive (west), Beracasa Way, Toledo Road, Boca Del Mar Drive (east), and Saint Andrews Boulevard. Bus stops remain open, but for the safety of pedestrians, bus riders, and the construction crews, please remain outside the closed work zone. From Military Trail to Florida’s Turnpike, pedestrians should be using the temporary pathway as the original pathway has been fully removed.
- The sidewalk on the south side of Palmetto Park Road, from SW 12th Avenue North (east of I-95), is closed completely to Military Trail (west of I-95), through April 2019, for pathway reconstruction and hand rail replacement. Pedestrians may detour via the sidewalk heading south on Military Trail, then east on Camino Real, to then north on SW 12th Avenue to continue again east from that point onto the existing pathway along Palmetto Park Road during this time.
- The sidewalk on the south side of Palmetto Park Road, from Boca Del Mar to Powerline Road is currently closed. Pedestrians may detour at Boca Del Mar Drive and Powerline Road south through the ‘Garden Shops’ Shopping Plaza. CENTRAL PALM BEACH COUNTY PROJECTS
Southern Boulevard (SR 80) Bridges Replacement Project
Description This 0.76-mile project includes replacing the existing bascule (draw) bridge and tide relief bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway (ICWW) and Lake Worth Lagoon between the Town of Palm Beach and the City of West Palm Beach. The project limits are between Washington Road in West Palm Beach and State Road A1A/South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach. New decorative lighting, pedestrian features, traffic signals, signage and drainage are included. A temporary bridge has been built north of the existing bridge to maintain traffic while the replacement bascule bridge is under construction.
Cost/Completion: $93 million. Completion is expected in spring 2020.
Traffic Impact:
- There are no lane closures at this time.
- During presidential visits, the right-turn lane from eastbound Southern Boulevard to southbound Flagler Drive will be closed.
Marine Impact:
- The navigable Intracoastal Waterway (ICCW) through the Southern Boulevard Bridge will have half-channel closures from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A full channel opening may be requested at other times if four-hour notice is provided by calling Project Superintendent Clay Bores at (407) 488-0738. During half-channel closures, the horizontal clearance through the bridge is 40 feet.
- The schedule of channel restrictions is published in the U.S. Coast Guard’s Local Notice to Mariners atwww.navcen.uscg.gov.

State Road 80/Southern Boulevard and Lyons Road/Sansbury’s Way
Description: This 1-mile intersection improvement project, located in unincorporated Palm Beach County, began active construction on October 18, 2018. Work consists of adding eastbound right-turn lane and a second westbound left-turn lane from Southern Boulevard to southbound Lyons Road; adding a second right-turn lane from northbound Lyons Road to eastbound Southern Boulevard; and adding a second northbound lane on Lyons Road and Sansbury’s Way. Other improvements include minor roadway widening, widening the Lyons Road bridge over the C-51 Canal, milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curb and gutter, lighting, guardrails, signalization, sidewalk, signage and pavement markings.
Cost/Completion: $7.5 million. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2020.
Traffic Impact:
- The east sidewalk on Sansbury’s Way/Lyons Road is closed until further notice.
- The northbound right-turn lane from Southern Boulevard to the Shoppes at Southern Palms is closed until further notice.

NORTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY PROJECTS
Blue Heron and Military Trail Lighting Improvements
Description: This 1.2-mile (Blue Heron Boulevard) and
5.2-mile (Military Trail) lighting project began Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 in the City of Palm Beach Gardens, the City of Riviera Beach, and unincorporated Palm Beach County. Work includes lighting retrofitting at three (3) intersections on Blue Heron Boulevard, and 11 sections on Military Trail.
Cost/Completion: $398,299. Completion is expected in summer 2019.
Traffic Impact:
- One lane may be closed in each direction on Military Trail, from Burns Road to Shiloh Drive, 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., daily, and 8 p.m. until 6:30 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning.
- One lane may be closed in each direction on Blue Heron Boulevard from Military Trail to Congress Avenue, 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning.

State Road 710, from south of Pratt Whitney Road to south of Park of Commerce Blvd.
Description: This 1.01-mile resurfacing project began Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in Jupiter. Work includes widening the inside shoulders, resurfacing the roadway, and installing signage and pavement markings.
Cost/Completion: $1.2 million. Completion is expected in fall 2019.

State Road 80/Southern Boulevard, from west of Lion Country Safari Road to Forest Hill Boulevard/Crestwood Boulevard
Description: Construction on this 7.2-mile widening project began Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in the Village of Royal Palm Beach, Village of Wellington and the Town of Loxahatchee Groves. Work includes widening the existing roadway from four to six lanes, adding a 12-foot shared-use pathway on the north side of the roadway, adding bike lanes, milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, adding lighting and signalization, installing curb and gutter, guardrails, minor median modifications and signage and pavement markings.
Cost/Completion: $33million. Completion is expected in summer 2021.
Traffic Impact:
- Southern Boulevard from Cane Field Trace to Seminole Pratt Whitney Road will have the westbound shoulder closed 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, and Thursday, April 18, for paving operations.
- Southern Boulevard at Palms West Parkway will have an eastbound lane closed 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, and Wednesday, April 17, for installation of traffic signal poles.
- Southern Boulevard from west of Lion Country Safari Road to west of Cane Field Trace will have one westbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily between Monday, April 15, and Friday, April 19, for median work.
