FANA Statement Regarding the Florida House’s Passage of HB 451 Related to Nonopioid Alternatives

Posted on April 17, 2019

The Florida House of Representatives today passed CS/CS/HB 451 by Representative Scott Plakon (R-Longwood) related to nonopioid alternatives.

The Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists (FANA) released the following statement regarding the passage of the bill.

“We applaud the Florida House for passing HB 451 which will help patients make informed decisions about their pain treatment options.

“Currently, there are alternatives to opioid pain medications in the marketplace, including in anesthesia care, and HB 451 will help ensure patients are aware those options are available.

“We thank Representative Scott Plakon for sponsoring this important legislation that will make a difference in the lives of Floridians and the families who have loved ones struggling with a substance use disorder.”
