Miami-Dade GOP Chairman Nelson Diaz today released the statement below on the Trump Administration’s Cuba Policy Announcement:
“Today’s announcement by President Trump on Cuba policy reverses the appeasement of the previous administration and gives hope to exiles who have sought refuge in America.
“That appeasement permitted the Castros the financial flexibility to maintain their grip on the Cuban people and provided indirect encouragement to the Chavez and Maduro regimes in Venezuela and the Ortega regime in Nicaragua.
“What President Trump and his administration did today is signal a zero tolerance for anti-American and anti-democracy tyrants in our hemisphere. The people of South Florida can rest assured that President Trump is a leader who keeps his promises and is willing to lead.
“The Democrats have offered nothing more than platitudes and weakness on foreign policy, and the voters will remember in November of 2020.”
