Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee Issues Statement on the 2019 Legislative Session

Posted on May 6, 2019

Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee today issued the following statement on the 2019 Legislative Session:

“I want to thank Governor Ron DeSantis, Senate President Bill Galvano and Speaker of the House Jose Oliva for their tremendous leadership, as well as all members of the Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives for their hard work and dedication to serving the people of Florida throughout the 2019 Legislative Session.

“The Department of State is grateful for the Florida Legislature’s support of our request for funding to make critical investments in the Department’s electronic business filing system to improve efficiency and security for Florida businesses.

“Cyber security continues to be a top priority for the Department as we head into the 2020 elections, and we thank the Legislature for funding our request to provide Supervisors of Elections with election security grants to support their on-going efforts to enhance election security.

“The Department also greatly appreciates the Legislature’s commitment to increasing funding for arts and cultural grant programs, which will benefit communities around the state.

“The Department looks forward to continuing to work with Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature.”
