Posted on May 10, 2019

SunRail customers will experience some delays this afternoon and possibly this evening, due to an earlier incident in Maitland.

SunRail trains are running again in the Maitland area after the rail corridor reopened at 1:15 p.m. today. Train service was stopped at 10:45 a.m. when authorities were alerted by 911 about a body possibly located along the rail corridor. Authorities located a body near the railroad tracks a short time later, near Palmetto Street. Authorities advised SunRail it appeared the deceased had been hit by a train. It is uncertain if a SunRail train was involved, or if it involved another rail service that uses the Central Florida Rail Corridor. Maitland Police are investigating.

The incident is causing delays to the SunRail schedule. The delays are expected to last into early evening. To stay informed, please check sunrail.com, SunRail on Twitter, or to receive SunRail text message alerts sent directly to your mobile device, text SunRail to 31996 to subscribe.
