Drivers on Orlando’s south side need to pay attention to an upcoming detour that may take them a little out of their way, especially if they wish to get to businesses on W. Kaley Street. The detour is for work at the W. Kaley Street railroad crossing, which is occurring from 9 p.m. Friday, May 31 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, June 4. The railroad crossing is completely closing during this time.
The suggested detour to access locations on either side of the closure takes vehicles onto S. Division Avenue, W. Grant Street and S. Orange Avenue. Detour signage is planned to direct motorists around the closure. W. Michigan Street is also an option for east-west thru-traffic during this closure.
The closure is necessary to upgrade the railroad crossing, which increases safety for both motor vehicles and train traffic. Construction times and schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other circumstances. Updates can be found on the Florida Department of Transportation’s Central Florida website CFLRoads.com.

SunRail and the Florida Department of Transportation urge motorists to use caution near all railroad crossings and when driving in areas with road construction. Please slow down and stay alert.
