Today, State Representative Jay Trumbull made the following statement following passage in the U.S. House of Representatives of long-awaited disaster relief.
“Finally, the long impasse in Congress over disaster aid has been broken, and I want to thank Congressman Neal Dunn and our local leaders in Bay County for their steadfast support of our community. They are all true public servants and never let up with their efforts to make our case in Washington and apply pressure where needed. I’m also grateful for President Trump’s commitment to sign the bill and to rebuilding Tyndall Air Force Base, which is so important to our economy and to our nation’s defense.
“While the passage of the aid package is good news, it is inexcusable that it took so long. Not only have we been suffering in the eight months since Michael hit, other hard-hit areas have also been waiting for much-needed aid for far too long. I am working with other leaders at every level to enact reforms that will ensure that this kind of delay never happens again, in the Panhandle or anywhere else.”
