CHARLOTTE COUNTY
I-75 over US 17: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 9 p.m. Monday, June 17 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 18 while crews perform maintenance on the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution and expect delays.
I-75 at the northbound and southbound weigh stations (mile marker 158): Construction project: Crews will be installing a parking detection system in the north and southbound weigh station parking areas. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
US 41 at Hancock Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be extending existing turn lanes, milling and resurfacing, widening, placing sidewalk, installing signing and pavement markings, and making signalization improvements. Work will occur during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated project completion is winter of 2019. The contractor is Florida Safety Contractors, Inc.
US 41 from Oakley Street to Main Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews reconstruct a turn lane, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.
US 41 from Rio Villa Drive to Airport Road: Construction project: Crews will be placing highway lighting during daytime hours. No nighttime work or lane closures are anticipated at this time. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated completion is summer 2019. The contractor is Traffic Control Devices, Inc.
COLLIER COUNTY
I-75 at mile marker 51: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect the inside southbound lane closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 20 while crews perform maintenance on the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution and expect delays.
I-75 at Rest Area (mile marker 63): Construction project: Crews will be installing a parking detection system in the north and southbound rest area parking areas. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
I-75 at SR 29: Construction project: Crews will be installing underground conduit and foundations for light poles on the ramps. Work is expected to occur during daytime hours. Drivers should use caution as crews work near the roadway. Estimated completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Arc Electric, Inc.
US 41 from Pine Ridge Road to Sandpine Drive: Construction project: Crews will be placing sidewalk, drainage structures and lighting on the east side of US 41. Crews will also resurface the intersection of US 41 and Pelican Bay Boulevard. Work occurs during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the project. Drivers should use caution traveling in this area. Estimated completion is early of 2019. The contractor is American Lighting & Signalization, Inc.
SR 29 from South 7th Street to South 2nd Street: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. eastbound lane closures during daytime hours, while crews make water main connections, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
DESOTO COUNTY
US 17 northbound (Brevard Street) at East Cypress Street and US 17 southbound (Desoto Avenue) at Cypress Street: Construction project: Watch for intermittent daytime lane closures as crews install emergency signals. This project includes installing two emergency signals at the US 17 northbound and southbound (one-way pair) intersections at Cypress Street for the new Desoto County Fire Station. Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC is the contractor. Expected completion is summer 2019.
SR 70 from North Pasco Avenue (westbound) and South Luther Avenue (eastbound) to Turner Avenue:Construction project: Watch for intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures as crews finish miscellaneous work on the project. Use caution and be prepared to merge. This project includes widening and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curb, gutter, sidewalk and signalization. Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC is the contractor. Expected completion is summer 2019.
GLADES COUNTY

HARDEE COUNTY
US 17 from north of 3rd Street East to the RV Park Entrance in Zolfo Springs: Construction project: Crews are installing new signal equipment and continue working in the median and on turn lanes. Watch for intermittent nighttime lane closures and pedestrian detours. This project includes milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curb and gutter, signing and pavement marking and signalization. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC. Expected completion is fall 2019.
SR 64 from Manatee County Line to West Main Street in Wauchula: Construction project: Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic as crews continue modifying driveways, installing drainage structures and sod, and begin paving from Ona to US 17 in Zolfo Springs. Use caution and be prepared to stop. This project includes milling and resurfacing, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signing and pavement marking. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC. Expected completion is Fall 2019.
SR 64 from Parnell Road to Highlands County Line: Maintenance project: Crews are performing shoulder work on SR 64 from the Highlands County line to Parnell Road. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers in the work zone.
SR 64 from SR 636 to Maude Road: Maintenance project: Crews are performing shoulder work on SR 64 from SR 636 to Maude Road. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers in the work zone.
SR 62 from Manatee/Hardee county line to west of Mocassin Lane: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be making repairs to the eastbound lane on SR 62 from the Manatee/Hardee county line to west of the Hardee Correctional Institution near Mocassin Lane from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning June 10. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers in the work zone.
HENDRY COUNTY
SR 80 from Dalton Lane to CR 833: Construction project: Crews will widen approximately 11 miles of roadway from two to four lanes and add new turning lanes on SR 80 in Hendry County. Additional work includes repaving the current lanes of SR 80 and constructing ten new bridges. Three of the bridges will require full demolition and removal of the existing bridges in order to construct the new ones. Work also includes drainage improvements, adding curb and gutter, and installing LED lighting. Please use caution and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated project completion is summer 2020. The contractor is AJAX Paving of Industries Florida.
HIGHLANDS COUNTY
US 98 from Garden Terrace to west of Pine Island Ranch Road in Spring Lake: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing a new treatment plant including a new force main parallel to US 98. Watch for workers close to the roadway with shoulder closures. Watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the roadway.
US 98 west of East Twitty Road: Maintenance permit project: Crews are modifying an existing driveway. Starting June 10 watch for workers close to the roadway with shoulder closures. Watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the roadway.
US 27 from West Townsend Street to Batts Street and on SR 64 from US 27 to Self Avenue: Construction project: Crews are replacing existing roadway with concrete pavement on US 27 southbound from West Pleasant Street to Paulk Street, US 27 northbound from Dyal Street to West Hill Street, and on SR 64 from Self Avenue to US 27. The contractor is also milling and resurfacing the existing roadway on US 27 from West Townsend Street to Batts Street and on SR 64 from Collier Avenue to Self Avenue, installing curb and gutter, installing traffic separators, sidewalks, traffic signals, street lights, and signing and pavement markers. A single continuous lane closure on US 27 will be in place during intersection construction.
- The median opening at Prairie Street is closed. Motorists should use the median turn lanes at Locke Street or Pleasant Street.
- On US 27 north bound, both travel lanes have shifted to the west to allow construction of the remaining drainage, sidewalk, and two new concrete travel lanes.
- Camphor Street East and Pine Street intersections with US 27 north bound are closed. Please follow the detour signs.
- The right turn only lane from west bound Main Street to US 27 north bound is closed. Please follow detour signs from west bound Main Street to northbound Anoka Avenue to west bound Hill Street to north bound US 27.
- Crews will be placing concrete at the intersection of US 27 and SR 64/ Main Street from 7 p.m. Friday, June 21 to 10 p.m. Sunday, June 23. East bound and/or west bound SR 64 and Main Street lanes may be affected. Please follow the detour signs.
Additional lane closures, single-lane flagging operations, and temporary lane shifts will occur during nighttime/overnight hours on US 27, Main Street (SR 17) and SR 64. The contractor is Concrete Services, LLC. Estimated project completion date is early 2020.
US 27 at Lakeview Drive: Construction project: Crews are replacing the existing diagonal span wire traffic control signal with a new four-pole span wire traffic control system. Additional improvements include installing new light poles at the intersection of US 27 and Lakeview Drive. Single nighttime lane closures on US 27 will be required during construction. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated project completion is summer 2019. The contractor is Carr Construction.
- Motorists should expect nighttime intermittent lane closures on south bound and north bound US 27 and east bound and west bound Lakeview Drive Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow flagger directions and use caution in this area.
US 27 at Lakeview Drive: Maintenance permit project: The site work of a new dental office has begun. Contractors and equipment will be working at the site. A new driveway connection will be constructed in the right-of-way. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers in the construction zone.
US 27 in south Lake Placid: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing a driveway connection for a business 1500 feet north of SR 70 on US 27 (SR 25) on the southbound side. Watch for workers near the roadway.
US 27 from the Polk County line to Striker Road: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be installing poles and cables. Preliminary work will begin Monday, June 17 and primary work begins in July and will continue for several months. Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures. Please use caution and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
US 17 in Avon Park: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing a residential driveway connection 1200 feet north of East San Juan Avenue on SR 17 on the southbound side. Work will begin Monday, June 17. Watch for workers near the roadway.
SR 70 from US 27 to CR 721: Maintenance project: Crews will perform weed control and tree trimming along the guardrail in this area. Motorists should use caution and expect intermittent lane closures eastbound and westbound from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
SR 70 east of CR 721: Construction project: Crews are milling and resurfacing the roadway at SR 70 east of CR 721. Additional improvements include shoulder treatment, drainage improvements, resetting guardrail and signing and pavement marking. Lane closures on SR 70 will be required during construction. Please follow flagger directions and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated project completion is summer 2019. The contractor is CWR Contracting, Inc.
SR 66 from US 27 to CR 635: Maintenance project: Crews will be cleaning ditches along SR 66 from US 27 to CR 635. Motorists should expect intermittent east and westbound lane closures on SR 66 Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
SR 66 from US 27 to Sparta Road: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be installing poles and cables. Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures. Please use caution and watch for crews working close to the roadway.

LEE COUNTY
I-75 over the Caloosahatchee River: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect the inside northbound lane closed during nighttime/overnight hours from 9 p.m.to 6 a.m. Monday, June 17 through Thursday, June 20 while crews perform maintenance on the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution and expect delays.
I-75 at Daniels Parkway (mile marker 131): Construction project: Crews will be installing a parking detection system in the northbound and southbound rest area parking areas. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865 and SR 867): Maintenance contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: Construction project: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.
- Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
- Motorists should expect Oakley Avenue closed at US 41/Cleveland Avenue while crews install water main pipe across Oakley Avenue.
- Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.
Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have the majority of construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Construction will begin on the first segment from Winkler Avenue to Carrell Road. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion date is the end of spring 2022. The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
SR 884/Colonial Boulevard from Plantation Road to Deer Run Farms Road: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Weekdays for crews to extend a turn lane, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 884/Colonial Boulevard from Pear Street to SR 739/Metro Parkway: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be replacing sidewalk on the north side of the roadway during daytime hours, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 876/Daniels Parkway from west of I-75 to the Rest Area: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing Daniels Parkway and constructing curb and shoulder during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures through the duration of the project during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Drivers should use caution traveling in this area. Estimated completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Preferred Materials, Inc.
SR 865/Six Mile Cypress Parkway at US 41: Construction project: Crews will widen existing lanes, signalization improvements, add sidewalk to the north side of the SR 865 roadway and improve drainage throughout the project area. Work will occur during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated project completion is early 2019. The contractor is Wright Construction Group.
SR 739/Michael G. Rippe Parkway at Alico Road: Motorists should expect the northbound on-ramp closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 while crews restore the shoulder, weather permitting. Motorists should follow the detour signs and use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 82 from Shawnee Road to Alabama Road: Construction project: Crews are widening SR 82 to six lanes from Shawnee Road to Alabama Road.
- Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures on SR 82 during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours, Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
- Motorists should expect side road closures throughout the project limits.
Additional work includes construction of a median separating three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, bike lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side. The project will also add a grass median and LED lighting throughout this segment. The expected completion date is late fall 2020. The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
SR 82 from Lee Boulevard/Colonial Boulevard to Shawnee Road: Construction project: Crews are widening SR 82 to six lanes from east of Lee Boulevard to Shawnee Road.
- Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures on SR 82 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
- Meadow Road at Gunnery Road is PERMANENTLY closed.
- A temporary traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Ray Avenue South and Griffin Drive. Motorists should use caution while driving in this area.
Additional work includes construction of a median separating three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 6.5-foot inside paved shoulders, bike lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side. The project will also add a grass median and LED lighting throughout this segment. The project also includes constructing Florida’s first Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of SR 82 at Daniels Parkway/Gunnery Road. The CFI will ease traffic congestion at the intersection and include multiple signals to reduce turning delays. The expected completion date is end of summer of 2019. The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
SR 82 from Alabama Road to the Lee/Hendry County line: Construction project: Crews will be widening SR 82 to four lanes from Alabama Road to the Lee/Hendry County line.
- Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures on SR 82 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
- Motorists should expect traffic shifts throughout the duration of the project.
- Motorists should expect Hedgewood Street closed from Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21.
- Motorists should expect Grant Boulevard closed through Friday, June 21.
- Motorists should expect Kalamar Drive closed through September 2019.
Additional work includes construction of a median separating two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 6.5-foot inside paved shoulders, bike lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side. The project will also add a grass median and LED lighting throughout this segment. The expected completion date is end of 2020. The Contractor is Sacyr Construction.
SR 82/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Rockfill Road to Ortiz Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing SR 82/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and constructing curb and shoulder during daytime and nighttime hours. Work occurs during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures through the duration of the project during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours. Drivers should use caution traveling in this area. Estimated completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Community Asphalt Corporation.
SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Oleander Avenue to Pine Street: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect the outside eastbound lane closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, while crew repave the shoulder, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.
SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Seaboard Street to Underwood Street: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect eastbound and westbound traffic delays during nighttime/overnight hours as crews perform storm drain maintenance, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.
SR 78/Pine Island Road at Chiquita Boulevard: Maintenance project. Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 19 through Friday, June 21 while crews resurface the roadway, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 78/Bayshore Boulevard from Hart Road to I-75: Maintenance contract project. Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews repair sidewalk, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
MANATEE COUNTY
Various locations along US 41, US 19 and SR 780: Construction project: Crews are installing highway lighting and constructing sidewalks at various locations along US 41, US 19 and SR 780 in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and daytime lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expected completion is summer 2019. The contractor is Highway Safety Devices, Inc.
Various locations along SR 684 and US 301: Construction project: Crews are installing new highway lighting at various locations along SR 684 from Gulf Drive to 9th Street W and on US 301 from Tallevast Road to 9thStreet E. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Expected completion is fall 2019. PowerCore, Inc. is the contractor.
I-275 at the Sunshine Skyway Rest Areas in Manatee and Pinellas Counties: Construction project: Improvements include constructing new rest areas and new parking lots with LED lighting, seawall repairs and extending the seawall at the Manatee County rest area to accommodate a new picnic pavilion. The Manatee County rest area is closed for renovations. Motorists should use the Pinellas County rest area during this time. The fishing piers will remain open during the closure; however, there will be periodic short intermittent flagging operations along the fishing pier access road on the Manatee side. Expected completion is spring 2020. David Nelson Construction Company is the contractor.
I-275 Southbound Ramp to I-75 Northbound (Exit 228): Construction project: Crews are replacing the concrete bridge deck on the southbound I-275 ramp to northbound I-75. The I-275 southbound ramp to northbound I-75 will remain closed into the summer. Traffic is being detoured north on US 41/S Tamiami Trail to SR 674/E College Avenue in Hillsborough County. A temporary traffic signal has been installed on US 41 at the southbound I-275 exit. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures on the I-275 southbound ramp to I-75 southbound from 9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures on I-75 northbound and I-75 southbound between Moccasin Wallow Road and just south of the I-275 interchange from 9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21. Use caution and watch for changes in the traffic pattern. Expected completion is late summer 2019. Cone & Graham, Inc. is the contractor.
I-75 at SR 70 Interchange (Exit 217): Construction project: This week, crews will work on widening I-75, the ramps, retaining walls, SR 70 drainage and curbs, installing signage, and working on the bridge the Braden River.
- During the overnight hours between Monday, June 17th and the morning of Tuesday, June 18th, the I-75 northbound off-ramp to SR 70 (Exit 217) will be shifted about 1-mile to the south. The new exit ramp begins immediately north of Linger Lodge Road overpass. Signs will be present to inform motorists. If weather conditions prohibit the ramp work, the work will be shifted to Tuesday night into the morning of Wednesday, June 19th.
- During the overnight hours between Monday, June 17th and the morning of Tuesday, June 18th, the I-75 northbound off-ramp to SR 70 (Exit 217) will be closed while crews work on opening the new ramp which will be shifted about 1-mile to the south. Motorists travelling northbound I-75 wishing to exit at Exit 217/SR 70 should either exit at Exit 213/University Parkway and use local routes; or, continue to Exit 220/SR 64 returning to I-75 and exit at Exit 217/SR 70. If weather conditions prohibit the ramp work, the work will be shifted to Tuesday night into the morning of Wednesday, June 19th.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. (northbound) or 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (southbound) through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 70 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and SR 70 through the duration of the construction.
- Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is late 2021. The contractor is Sacyr Construction USA, LLC.
US 41 from 301 Boulevard to 21st Avenue: Construction project: Crews are installing concrete traffic separators/directional turn-lanes within the median, resurfacing the roadway, improving drainage, and installing new signing and pavement markings. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and daytime lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (not within 600 feet of a signalized intersection). The northbound outside lane will be closed from 32nd Avenue to 30th Avenue for approximately two weeks while crews complete drainage work. Expected completion is summer 2019. Blacktip Services Incorporated is the contractor.
SR 789 at the Longboat Key Pass Bridge: Construction project: Crews are making structural, electrical and mechanical repairs on the bridge. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sidewalk closures are also expected during construction. Southern Road & Bridge, LLC is the contractor. Expected completion is late summer 2019.
SR 70 at Seminole Gulf Railways Railroad crossing in Oneco: Construction project: Crews are upgrading the tracks and roadway at the rail crossing. This week, crews will be performing work on the railroad tracks and crossing sub-structure.
- The improvements require a total closure of SR 70; therefore, SR 70 will be closed to through traffic at the rail crossing from Saturday, June 8th through Friday, June 21st.
- East of the rail crossing, SR 70 will be open to local traffic only from US 301 to 18th St Boulevard E.
- West of the rail crossing, SR 70 will be open to local traffic only from US 41/14th Street W to 17th Street Court E.
- FDOT urge motorists to follow the posted detour or identify alternate routes. The posted detour for SR 70 westbound is SR 70 to US 301 to 63rd Avenue E to 14th Street W to SR 70. For SR 70 eastbound traffic, follow SR 70 to 14th Street W to 63rd Avenue E to US 301 to SR 70 eastbound.
The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. Expected completion is June 21, 2019; weather permitting.
SR 64 at Rye Road: Construction project: Crews are constructing a multi-lane roundabout; resurfacing the roadway; improving drainage, and installing new highway lighting and landscaping. A traffic switch has been implemented shifting traffic to the current westbound lanes using temporary crossovers. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction throughout the project limits. Rye Road will remain accessible during this time. The speed limit on State Road 64 will be reduced to 45 mph. IBT Construction is the contractor. Expected completion is late 2019.
SR 43 (10th Street) from 6th Avenue Drive W to 2nd Avenue: Construction project: Crews are making improvements to two railroad crossings, improving drainage, constructing sidewalk, and constructing turn lanes on State Road 43 (10th Street). State Road 43 (10th Street) between 6th Avenue Drive W and 2ndAvenue will close to traffic overnight Thursday, June 13/early Friday, June 14 and remain closed for approximately 70 days while crews are working.
- Traffic northbound on US 41 to westbound SR 43 (10th Street) will make a left-turn onto 7th Street W and continue to Business US 41 (8th Avenue W). Make a right-turn onto Business US 41 (8th Avenue W) and then make a left-turn on SR 43 (10th Street) to continue west.
- Traffic southbound on US 41 to eastbound SR 43 (10th Street) will make a right-turn onto 17th Street W and continue to Business US 41 (8th Avenue W). Make a left-turn onto Business US 41 (8th Avenue W) and then make right-turn onto SR 43 (10th Street) to continue east until the road closure at 6th Avenue Drive W. Otherwise, motorists will continue south on US 41 and exit at 10th Street W to continue eastbound as normal.
- Traffic eastbound on 10th Street will make a left-turn onto Business US 41 (8th Avenue W) and continue to 17th Street W. Make a right-turn onto 17th Street W and continue to US 41. Make a right-turn onto southbound US 41 and exit at SR 43 (10th Street) to continue east.
- Traffic westbound on 10th Street will merge onto US 41 northbound and continue to 17th Street W. Make a left-turn onto 17th Street W and continue to Business US 41 (8th Avenue W). Make a left-turn onto Business US 41 (8th Avenue W) and continue to 10th Street. Make a right-turn onto 10th Street to continue west.
Nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. will occur throughout construction while crews are working. Expected completion is fall 2019. Preferred Materials, Inc., is the contractor.
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY
US 441 SE between canal 59 and SE 66th Avenue: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing a new pumping station including a new driveway connection to US 441 SE. Watch for workers close to the roadway with shoulder closures. Watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the roadway.
US 441 (SR 15) from south of NE 98 Street to north of NE 102 Street: Construction project: Crews are adding a northbound left turn lane at NE 102nd Street and widening and repaving US 441 from south of NE 98 Street to north of NE 102 Street. The contractor will also improve the drainage and install signage and pavement markings. Watch for crews and equipment working close to the road. Drivers should expect lane closures on US 441 throughout the project. Please observe posted speed limits and drive with caution in the construction zone. The contractor is American Lighting and Signalization, LLC. Estimated completion is summer 2019.
- Motorists should expect north bound and south bound intermittent lane closures on US 441 Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please follow flagger directions and use caution in this area.
US 441 south at NW 2nd Street: Maintenance permit project: Crews are installing underground utilities under the sidewalks on the southbound side of South Parrott Avenue. Sidewalks will be patched with asphalt until all utility work is complete then sidewalks will be restored with concrete. No lane closures will be required. Please watch for trucks and workers close to the roadway.
SR 710 from SR 70 to SE 40th Ave: Utility permit project: Utility work will be conducted in the westbound side of SR 710. Please use caution in these areas and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
POLK COUNTY
East Johnson Avenue (CR 580) from US 17/92 to North 24th Street: Construction project: Watch for daytime shoulder closures and intermittent lane closures with flaggers directing traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. as crews continue pouring sidewalk and driveway connections and grading shoulders. This project includes adding sidewalk on the north side of East Johnson Avenue from US 17/92 to North 20th Street and on the south side of East Johnson Street from US 17/92 to North 24th Street. Crews will also pave East Johnson Street from US 17/92 to 18th Street and reconstruct side street and driveway entrances throughout the project. The contractor is Central Concrete Products, Inc. Ewell Road from east of Irby Lane to Old Highway 37: Construction project: Watch for intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic as crews work on miscellaneous final items, installing mailboxes and paving and striping the roadway to finish the project. This project includes replacing the bridge over Poley Creek, adding traffic signals and turn lanes at both Lunn Road intersections, resurfacing and upgrading signal equipment at Old Highway 37, drainage improvements, and milling and resurfacing in various locations. The contractor is SEMA Construction. Expected completion is summer 2019.
Parkway Frontage Road South and Parkway Frontage Road North from Florida Avenue to Waring Road: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. with workers close to the road and trucks entering and leaving the roadway, as crews replace reflective roadway markings. Use caution and be prepared to merge. The contractor is Rogar Management.
I-4 at mile marker 31 (SR 539/Kathleen Road): Maintenance contracts project: Watch for workers close to the travel lanes and ramps as crews begin clearing and installing a new irrigation system. This BOLD landscaping project includes adding irrigation and more than 1500 trees and palms to the Kathleen Road intersection. The contractor is Oasis Landscaping Services, Inc. Expected completion is early 2021.
I-4 at mile marker 33 (SR 33/CR 582 Socrum Loop Road): Construction project: Intermittent nightly lane closures may occur from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. This project includes installing wrong-way detection on the I-4 off ramps including at SR 33/CR 582 as a safety measure to help prevent wrong-way events. These sites consist of a static sign and red flashing beacons that turn on when a motorist travels in the opposite direction of traffic which then sends an automated alert to the FDOT District 7 SunGuide Center. US 98 at the outdoor recreation area in Fort Meade: Maintenance permit project: Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while crews construct a new driveway entrance. Use caution and be prepared to stop.
US 92/SR 546 Memorial Boulevard from Wabash to Gary Road: Construction project: Expect both daytime and nighttime/overnight lane closures as crews install directional bores, conduit and pole bases for lighting along the eastbound lanes during the day, and install signs from Wabash Avenue to Gary Road in both directions at night/overnight. Use caution and be prepared to merge. Crews will be working Monday through Friday during the day and Sunday through Thursday at night. No lane closures are allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This project includes concrete pavement and sidewalk repairs, intersection modifications and resurfacing at the Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue intersection, upgraded street lighting, median modifications for safety and installation of four High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signals. US 27 from Highlands County line to SR 60: Maintenance contracts project: Crews are trimming trees along the roadway. Use caution and watch for equipment entering and leaving the roadway during the day.
US 27 at Posner Boulevard: Maintenance permits project: The northbound right turn lane and southbound left turn lanes from US 27 to Posner Boulevard will remain closed through Friday, June 14 as crews bore under Posner Boulevard. Posner Boulevard may be reduced to one lane. Use caution, watch for workers close to the road, and be prepared to stop for flaggers.
SR 655 (Recker Highway) from Coleman Road to Spirit Lake Road: Construction project: Expect daytime shoulder closures and workers close to the road while crews pull wires and work on power supplies. SR 542 from 1st Street to Buckeye Loop Road: Construction project: Crews continue working on embankment and installing storm water structures, sewage lines, fiber optic cable, lighting conduit and bases. Watch for nighttime/overnight lane closures on SR 542 with flaggers directing traffic and be prepared to stop.
Use caution when entering and exiting driveways onto SR 542 (Dundee Road) as some driveways may be closed or narrowed during pipe and fiber optic installation. Access to residences and businesses may be changed slightly, but will be maintained at all times.
As part of the utility work, crews will also close the outside northbound lane on 1st Street just south of Central Avenue from 9 p.m. on Tuesday June 18 to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19. Be prepared to merge.

SR 37 from Cresap Street to north of West 3rd Street: Construction project: Watch for intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures as crews repair sidewalks and miscellaneous items to complete the project. Operational testing has begun on the system so motorists will now see signs light up pointing them to an optional alternate route when a train approaches South Florida Avenue. This project includes design and installation of an intelligent transportation system (ITS) to provide a rail bypass system in the City of Lakeland. Florida Safety Contractors is the contractor. SR 37 from Riggins Street to north of Olive Street: Maintenance permit project: The two inside travel lanes and center turn lane will be closed, leaving a single lane in each direction open starting Sunday, June 23, and lasting approximately one week. The closure allows City of Lakeland crews to make critical repairs to the sewer main located under South Florida Avenue. Use caution and be prepared to merge.
SR 37 (Florida Avenue) at Orange Street: Maintenance permits project: The southbound left turn lane from Florida Avenue to Orange Street will remain closed through early June for a City of Lakeland sidewalk enhancement project on Orange Street. Motorists turning east onto Orange Street will be detoured to Lime Street. Use caution and follow the posted detour.

US 301 from SR 780 (Fruitville Road) to 10th Street: Construction project: Crews are making median modifications, installing traffic separators, constructing turn-lanes, improving drainage, and constructing sidewalk. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Beginning the week of Monday, June 17, crews will be making drainage improvements on US 301between Ringling Boulevard and Main Street. During this time, the northbound right lane will be closed. The northbound and southbound turn lanes will become through lanes for traffic. Northbound and southbound left turns from US 301 to Ringling Boulevard and to Main Street are prohibited. Motorists should use caution and pay close attention to changes in traffic patterns. US 41 from Salford Boulevard to Sumter Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are widening US 41 from Salford Boulevard to Sumter Boulevard to a six-lane highway; resurfacing the roadway; improving drainage; constructing sidewalk, and installing highway lighting. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. when crews are resurfacing the roadway. Expect periodic driveway closures along the northbound lanes while crews are installing drainage systems. Russell Engineering, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is early summer 2019.
US 41 Roundabouts at 10th Street and 14th Street, Sarasota: Construction project: Crews continue work within the right-of-way, medians and driveways. New traffic pattern was implemented on 14th Street going east and west. Pay close attention to barrels, pavement markings and traffic lights. Pedestrians need to cross at designated crosswalks and avoid work zones for safety reasons.
- Paving is scheduled along US41 on the west side and at 10th Street, and the intersection of 14th Street. Work will occur during the night throughout the week. Lane closures are expected during the operation, with trucks and rollers. Expect noise from backup alarms and vibrations from compaction.
- Installation of waterline at the SW corner of Imperial Drive continues. This activity is expected to last 1 week. There will be noise from boring equipment, excavators and pumps. Pumps are expected to run 24/7. Work currently is expected during daytime only.
- Installation of drainage structures and road base work at the SW corner of 10th Street and along 10th Street on the south side.
- A new traffic pattern on west side of 10th Street is implemented. Travel lanes have been slightly shifted north. There will be only 1 lane going east and 1 lane going west during the temporary phase.
- New boat ramp driveway is open. Use caution as the wider driveway is intended for both entering and exiting traffic
- Temporary single lane closures may occur between 9th Street and 15th Street from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. if nighttime activities are scheduled.
- Temporary disruption to access is expected while crews are setting up equipment trucks moving in and out of the work zones. Access to properties is always maintained.
- Grading of roadway base is expected at 10th Street. Expect noise from heavy machinery and dust with trucks moving in and out of traffic.
- Pedestrian crossings on 14th Street/Imperial Drive at US 41 have been reconfigured around the work zone. Pedestrians are advised to use the designated sidewalks and cross walks.
- Pedestrian crosswalks and stop bar on the south bound lanes at 14th Street are marked. For the safety of pedestrians, motorists are urged to stop at the designated stop bar.
- Work on the permanent driveway for Centennial Park boat ramp exit off US 41. Driveway to the north is accessible.
- Water main tie in procedures are scheduled along US 41. Expect construction vehicles throughout the day.
- Centennial Park Boat Ramp driveway on 10th Street will be closed. Motorists can access the boat ramp via the US 41 entrance. Northbound left turn lane from US 41 into the boat ramp is available.
- The traffic pattern will be limited to right turn in/out for 11th, 12th and 13th Street. Traveling southbound and northbound direction left turns are not permitted at 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th Streets. Motorists are advised to follow the posted signs.
- Temporary detour route in effect. Use Cocoanut Avenue as alternate route to access 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Street. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route and seek an alternate route while traveling in this area.
Speed limit is reduced to 30 mph. Speeding fines are doubled in the construction area when workers are present.
Improvements being made as part of this project consist of reconstructing the signalized intersections and replacing them with roundabouts, enhancing connectivity, circulation and safety. US 41 will be widened between the two intersections and will include bike lanes as well as dedicated turn lanes, a 10-foot sidewalk along the west side, and a 6-foot sidewalk along the east side. Other improvements include raised islands for pedestrian refuge at the intersections of US 41 at 10th Street and 14th Street, pedestrian signals, LED street lights, landscaping, and City of Sarasota utility and underground drainage structure replacements. Expected completion is spring 2020. The contractor is IBT Construction LLC.
US 41 from Hospital Road to River Road: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing new turn-lanes, driveway connections, and working in the medians. Expect intermittent north and southbound daytime lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday, June 21. Use caution and expect possible delays.
US 41 from McIntosh Road to Beneva Road: Construction project: Crews are constructing sidewalk and bicycle lanes, improving drainage, reconstructing the US 41 southbound bridge over Catfish Creek south of Central Sarasota Parkway, installing highway lighting, upgrading signals, and installing new signing and pavement markings.
- Northbound nighttime/overnight lane closures may occur between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- Southbound nighttime/overnight lane closures may occur between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m.
- The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph within the construction zone.
Motorists should use caution and obey the posted speed limit. Expected completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Morrison-Cobalt JV.
US 41 from Tuscola Boulevard to Ortiz Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are constructing a multi-use path; installing bus pads and shelters; improving drainage; constructing/replacing sidewalk; installing guardrail and highway lighting, and installing new signing and pavement markings. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Daytime lane closures between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. are possible. Lane closures within 600 feet of signalized intersections are not permitted between 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Florida Safety Contractors, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is summer 2019.
US 41 (Venice Bypass) from Center Road from to Gulf Coast Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are widening US 41 from Center Road to Gulf Coast Boulevard to a six-lane highway; replacing traffic signals, installing new pavement markings and signage; installing concrete curb, sidewalks; improving new drainage, and installing new highway lighting. Use caution and watch for changes in the traffic pattern. Bergeron Land Development, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is spring 2021.
- Beginning Tuesday, May 28 at 7 a.m., Seaboard Avenue will be closed to thru traffic while workers complete drainage improvements. Motorists should use Spur Street as a detour route. Seaboard Avenue is anticipated be closed for a total of 54 days.
- Expect northbound and southbound nighttime lane closures on US 41 between Via Veneto and Gulf Coast Boulevard from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21.
SR 776 (Indiana Avenue) at CR 777 (Dearborn Street): Construction project: Crews are making pedestrian and ADA improvements, vehicle detection overhead traffic signal modifications, sidewalk enhancements and installing highway lighting. Expect northbound lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. and southbound lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Expected completion is summer 2019. Contact Network LLC is the contractor.
