Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Mary Mayhew released the following statement today in response to Governor DeSantis’ signing of the state budget:
“Our Agency oversees Florida’s $28 billion Medicaid Program that serves close to four million recipients each month and is responsible for covering over 60 percent of child births in the state. With an increasing portion of taxpayer dollars devoted to this effort, it is critical we prioritize accountability and sustainability when it comes to access to care. Governor DeSantis is acutely focused on this fiscal responsibility and prudent use of taxpayer dollars to support the Agency’s core mission of meeting the needs of Florida’s most vulnerable and ensuring safe and high quality health care services. I applaud the Governor for his strong leadership throughout the budget process.”
The Agency for Health Care Administration is committed to better health care for all Floridians. The Agency administers Florida’s Medicaid program, licenses and regulates more than 48,000 health care facilities and 47 health plans, and publishes health care data and statistics at FloridaHealthFinder.gov.
