Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee today released the following statement regarding Governor Ron DeSantis’ signing of the 2019-2020 budget:
“I applaud Governor Ron DeSantis for signing the 2019-2020 budget, which includes $2.8 million for election security. Governor DeSantis has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to ensuring Florida’s elections are protected, and this additional funding will help address any areas of critical need in our elections systems prior to the 2020 elections.
“The 2019-2020 budget also includes millions of dollars for arts and cultural grant programs, which will enhance the quality of life in communities across the state.
“I am also deeply appreciative of Governor DeSantis’ support for funding that will allow the Department to make critical investments in the state’s electronic business filing system to improve efficiency and security for Florida businesses.
“Governor DeSantis has shown tremendous leadership by signing a budget that prioritizes issues that are important to Florida families and businesses, and I thank him for supporting key items that will help the Department better serve all Floridians.”
