Feedback Opportunity for U.S. 27 Resurfacing Improvements

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold an informational open house on Thursday, July 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. about the proposed resurfacing project on U.S. 27 from south of Arlington Ridge Boulevard to north of County Road (C.R.) 33. The meeting will be held at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, Southern Campus.

Project information will be on display during the open house, and there will be a presentation on a continuous loop. Project representatives also will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

The intent of this project is to resurface the existing pavement, including travel lanes, shoulders, auxiliary lanes, and median crossovers. It also includes operational and maintenance improvements, such as extending turn lanes in some areas, constructing a new southbound directional median opening with a left turn lane just south of Pelican Isle Drive, and new signs and pavement markings. Safety improvements are also proposed at the C.R. 33 intersection, and include eliminating the continuous green arrow/through lane along northbound U.S. 27 and providing dual left turn lanes from C.R. 33 to northbound U.S. 27. Other various pedestrian safety enhancements are included to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and FDOT standards regarding pedestrian features, such as adding crosswalks at C.R. 48.

This project will not require additional right of way.
