The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Miami-Dade Police Department, the Florida Department of Corrections and Miami-Dade County Public School Police Department captured inmate Jason L. Revis, 37, this morning after he escaped from Dade Correctional Institution.
Revis who escaped before 7:30 this morning, was captured within hours of his escape. Using K9s from the Department of Corrections and Miami-Dade Police Department, investigators were able to track and find him alone inside a restaurant at 155 North Krome Avenue in Florida City.
Florida Department of Corrections Secretary Mark S. Inch said, “I want to commend the effective collaboration of all staff involved to include FDC, federal, state and local law enforcement authorities for a swift resolution to this incident. Working together, they were able to quickly identify the escapee and initiate a large-scale manhunt, resulting in the quick and safe capture of the inmate. We take our mission to protect Florida’s communities seriously and will evaluate all security protocols to determine any necessary adjustments moving forward to ensure events of this nature do not occur in the future.”
Revis was four years into a 40-year prison term for lewd and lascivious molestation on a child. The investigation is ongoing and it is not known at this time if he had assistance in his escape. Revis faces additional charges including escape.
