Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Three to the Florida State College at Jacksonville District Board of Trustees

Governor Ron DeSantis today announced the appointment of Jennifer Brown and the reappointments of Thomas McGehee Jr. and Wayne Young to the Florida State College at Jacksonville District Board of Trustees.

Jennifer Brown
Brown, of Jacksonville, is the Executive Director of KIPP Jacksonville Charter Schools. Brown is a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is a current board member for the Northeast Florida Women Veterans Association. Brown earned a bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University and her doctorate in educational leadership and policy from Vanderbilt. Brown is appointed to a four-year term. 

Wayne Young
Young, of Jacksonville, is the director of response and environmental programs for Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA), a northeast Florida community-owned utility. He served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years, commanding two naval warships and completing a tour of duty at the Pentagon. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management technology, a master’s degree in telecommunications systems management and a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the United States Naval Academy. Young is reappointed to a four-year term.

Thomas McGehee Jr.
McGehee, of Jacksonville, is executive vice president and owner of Mac Papers, Inc, a wholesale paper distributer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Florida in 1981. McGehee has served as a trustee for Florida State College at Jacksonville since 1999. He is reappointed to a four-year term.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
