Detour to be in place through fall
Motorists are advised that South John Rodes Boulevard will be closed to thru traffic between Sheridan Road and Sarno Road beginning on Sunday, Aug. 4, by 9 p.m. and continuing into late fall. Only local traffic will be allowed access.
Traffic will be detoured around the intersection using Sheridan Road, South Wickham Road, West Eau Gallie Boulevard (State Road 518), and Sarno Road (see attached map for more information). Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained. Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct motorists.
This closure is needed for work to begin on the Ellis Road connection to the new Interstate 95 (I-95) interchange. The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project constructing a new I-95 interchange at Ellis Road to provide direct access between I-95 and the Melbourne International Airport.
Please note weather or other circumstances may affect this schedule.
