UT Named One of the Best Colleges by The Princeton Review

Posted on August 6, 2019

Only about 13 percent of America’s four-year colleges are included

The University of Tampa has been again named by The Princeton Review as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education.

The rankings, listed in the book “The Best 385 Colleges,” are based on surveys of 140,000 students at 385 top colleges.

“We salute The University of Tampa for its outstanding academics and we are truly pleased to recommend it to prospective applicants searching for their personal ‘best-fit’ college,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s Editor-in-Chief and lead author of “The Best 385 Colleges.”

In its profile, students praise UT’s “many resources and opportunities” and its “hands-on and experiential learning.” They also acknowledge the “amazing professors” who are “very much available for extra help or extra explanations both during and outside of class,” and who give students “the opportunity to create and carry out experiments.”

Students also mentioned that UT is “very diverse in that people from all different cultures make up the community,” and as such, students are introduced to a large variety of “beliefs, backgrounds, ethnicities, and ideologies.”

In a “Survey Says” sidebar in the book’s profile on UT, The Princeton Review lists topics that UT students surveyed for the book were in most agreement about in their answers to survey questions. The list includes: “Students love Tampa, FL,” “Recreation facilities are great” and “Easy to get around campus.”

“UT’s continued inclusion in this well-respected guide is a testament to the expertise and commitment of our faculty and staff to provide an outstanding educational experience for students,” said UT President Ronald L. Vaughn.

The Princeton Review’s school profiles and ranking lists in “The Best 385 Colleges” are posted at PrincetonReview.com. For more information on the ranking methodology visit princetonreview.com/college-rankings/ranking-methodology.

The University of Tampa is a private, residential university located on 110 acres on the riverfront in downtown Tampa. Known for academic excellence, personal attention and real-world experience in its undergraduate and graduate programs, the University serves approximately 9,300 students from 50 states and 132 countries. Approximately 62 percent of full-time students live on campus, and about half of UT students are from Florida.
