CHARLOTTE COUNTY
I-75 at the northbound and southbound weigh stations (mile marker 158): Construction project: Crews will be installing a parking detection system in the north and southbound weigh station parking areas. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
US 41 at Hancock Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be extending existing turn lanes, milling and resurfacing, widening, placing sidewalk, installing signing and pavement markings, and making signalization improvements. Work will occur during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated project completion is winter of 2019. The contractor is Florida Safety Contractors, Inc.
US 41 from Oakley Street to Main Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews reconstruct a turn lane, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.
COLLIER COUNTY
I-75 from the Collier County Toll Plaza to the Collier/Broward County line: Maintenance project: Crews are paving, striping, and working on associated items on the interstate lanes and shoulders. Work will occur during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is September 2019.
I-75 at Rest Area (mile marker 63): Construction project: Crews will be installing a parking detection system in the north and southbound rest area parking areas. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
I-75 at SR 29: Construction project: Crews will be installing underground conduit and foundations for light poles on the ramps. Work is expected to occur during daytime hours. Drivers should use caution as crews work near the roadway. Estimated completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Arc Electric, Inc.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Pine Street to Bayshore Drive: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays while crews construct a driveway, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from SR 951/Collier Boulevard to Greenway Road: Construction project: Crews will be installing lighting along the northbound and southbound lanes. Work will occur during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated project completion is spring 2020. The contractor is Horsepower Electric, Inc.
US 41 from Pine Ridge Road to Sandpine Drive: Construction project: Crews will be placing sidewalk, drainage structures and lighting on the east side of US 41. Crews will also resurface the intersection of US 41 and Pelican Bay Boulevard. Work occurs during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the project. Drivers should use caution traveling in this area. Estimated completion is summer 2019. The contractor is American Lighting & Signalization, Inc.
SR 82/Immokalee Road from SR 29 to Corkscrew Road: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for crews to repair a pipeline, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Pine Street to Commercial Drive: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures while crews make an emergency repair to a storm drain, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
DESOTO COUNTY
SR 70 from North Pasco Avenue (westbound) and South Luther Avenue (eastbound) to Turner Avenue:Construction project: Watch for intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures as crews work on miscellaneous items to complete the project. Use caution and be prepared to merge. This project includes widening and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curb, gutter, sidewalk and signalization. Expected completion is summer 2019. Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC is the contractor.
GLADES COUNTY
US 27 from 5th Street to north of SR 78: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing the roadway on US 27 from 5th Street to north of SR 78 in Moore Haven. Additional work includes improving the drainage, sidewalks and road shoulders, and installing curb and gutter, signage and pavement markings, and water and sewer lines along US 27. Work also includes replacing traffic signals at 6th Street and 10th Street and adding new streetlights at 10th Street and SR 78 intersections. Motorists should expect periodic nighttime and daytime lane closures on US 27 during construction. Please use caution and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated project completion is summer 2020. The contractor is AJAX Paving Industries of Florida.
HARDEE COUNTY
North Hickory Street from SR 66 to 4th Avenue East: Construction project: Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews form and pour sidewalk and driveway connections and place sod. Use caution and be prepared to stop. The contractor is Florida Silt and Sod, Inc. Expected completion is fall 2019.
US 17 from north of 3rd Street East to the RV Park Entrance in Zolfo Springs: Construction project: Crews are working on signals and rumble strips during the day, and pouring curb and ADA ramps at night. Watch for intermittent daytime and nighttime/overnight lane closures and be prepared to merge. This project includes milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curb and gutter, signing and pavement marking and signalization. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC. Expected completion is fall 2019.
SR 64 from Manatee County Line to West Main Street in Wauchula: Construction project: Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic as crews make repairs to the side street intersections from Ona to Main Street. This project includes milling and resurfacing, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signing and pavement marking. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC. Expected completion is Fall 2019.
SR 64 from School House Road to Delaney Road: Maintenance project: Crews will be installing new pipe culverts along SR 64 between School House Road and Delaney Road in Zolfo Springs. Watch for workers close to the roadway with shoulder closures and trucks and equipment entering and leaving the roadway.
HENDRY COUNTY
SR 80 from Dalton Lane to CR 833: Construction project: Crews will widen approximately 11 miles of roadway from two to four lanes and add new turning lanes on SR 80 in Hendry County. Additional work includes repaving the current lanes of SR 80 and constructing ten new bridges. Three of the bridges will require full demolition and removal of the existing bridges to construct the new ones. Work also includes drainage improvements, adding curb and gutter, and installing LED lighting.
- On August 14, 2019 motorists should expect a new traffic pattern on eastbound and westbound SR 80 from Dalton Lane to one half mile west of Hendry Isle Boulevard. Traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed travel lanes. Please use extreme caution when exiting driveways and side streets on to SR 80 and pay close attention to the new location of stop signs.
Please use caution and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated project completion is summer 2020. The contractor is AJAX Paving of Industries Florida.
HIGHLANDS COUNTY
US 98 in the Lorida area: Utility maintenance work: Crews are replacing old wood poles with new concrete poles. Motorists should expect daily lane closures Monday through Friday with one-way traffic from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Watch for flagmen and workers close to the roadway.
US 27 from West Townsend Street to Batts Street and on SR 64 from US 27 to Self Avenue: Construction project: Crews are replacing existing roadway with concrete pavement on US 27 southbound from West Pleasant Street to Paulk Street, US 27 northbound from Dyal Street to West Hill Street, and on SR 64 from Self Avenue to US 27. The contractor is also milling and resurfacing the existing roadway on US 27 from West Townsend Street to Batts Street and on SR 64 from Collier Avenue to Self Avenue, installing curb and gutter, installing traffic separators, sidewalks, traffic signals, street lights, and signing and pavement markers. A single continuous lane closure on US 27 will be in place during intersection construction.

- SR 64 center lane and eastbound lanes have shifted
- The median opening at Prairie Street is closed. Motorists should use the median turn lanes at Locke Street or Pleasant Street.
Additional lane closures, single-lane flagging operations, and temporary lane shifts will occur during nighttime/overnight hours on US 27, Main Street (SR 17) and SR 64. The contractor is Concrete Services, LLC. Estimated project completion date is early 2020.
US 27 at Lakeview Drive: Maintenance permit project: The site work of a new dental office has begun. Contractors and equipment will be working at the site. A new driveway connection will be constructed in the right-of-way. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers in the construction zone.
US 27 in south Lake Placid: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing a driveway connection for a business 1500-feet north of SR 70 on US 27 (SR 25) on the southbound side. Watch for workers near the roadway.
US 27 from the Polk County line to Striker Road: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be installing poles and cables throughout the summer. Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures. Please use caution and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
US 27 from West Palmetto Street to Woodmere Street in Avon Park: Maintenance project: Crews will be repairing the sidewalk along US 27 from West Palmetto Street to Woodmere Street. Motorists should expect daily intermittent lane closures on US 27 northbound from West Palmetto Street to Woodmere Street near the Walmart Super Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
US 27 between Tomoka Boulevard North and South: Maintenance permit project: Underground utility line will be installed at the back of the right of way. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.
US 27 southbound at South Highlands Avenue: Maintenance permit project: Overhead utility line will be installed on existing poles. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.
SR 70 from US 27 to CR 721: Maintenance project: Crews will perform weed control and tree trimming along the guardrail in this area. Motorists should use caution and expect intermittent lane closures eastbound and westbound from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
SR 70 east of CR 721: Construction project: Crews are milling and resurfacing the roadway at SR 70 east of CR 721. Additional improvements include shoulder treatment, drainage improvements, resetting guardrail and signing and pavement marking. Lane closures on SR 70 will be required during construction. Please follow flagger directions and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated project completion is summer 2019. The contractor is CWR Contracting, Inc.
SR 66 from US 27 to CR 635: Maintenance project: Crews will be cleaning ditches along SR 66 from US 27 to CR 635. Motorists should expect intermittent east and westbound lane closures on SR 66 Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
SR 66 from US 27 to Payne Road: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be installing poles and cables. Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures. Please use caution and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
SR 17 from North Ridgewood Drive to County Road 17A: Utility maintenance project: Crews are installing new poles and transferring utilities. Expect intermittent lane closures on SR 17 from North Ridgewood Drive to County Road 17A. Please watch for workers in and near the roadway.
SR 17 between Lake Letta Drive and East Lake Bonnet Road in Sebring: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing an agricultural driveway connection between Lake Letta Drive and East Lake Bonnet Road on SR 17 on the northbound side. Please watch for workers near the roadway.
LEE COUNTY
I-75 at Daniels Parkway (mile marker 131): Construction project: Crews will be installing a parking detection system in the northbound and southbound rest area parking areas. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865 and SR 867): Maintenance contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue over the Caloosahatchee River: Construction project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews make improvements to the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the bridge. Estimated project completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Seacoast Construction Group.
US 41 over Spring Creek: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect the two inside northbound lanes closed during nighttime/overnight from 8 p.m. Thursday, August 15 to 4 a.m. Friday, August 16 while crews perform maintenance on the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution and expect delays.
US 41 over the Imperial River: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect the inside northbound lane closed during nighttime/overnight from 9 p.m. Thursday, August 8 to 4 a.m. Friday, August 9 while crews perform maintenance on the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution and expect delays.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue at College Parkway/Woodlawn Boulevard: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing, placing sidewalk, installing signing and pavement markings, and making signalization improvements. Work will occur during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated project completion is winter 2019. The contractor is Blacktip Services Incorporated, Inc.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: Construction project: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.
- Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
- Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.
- Motorists should expect Golf View Avenue closed at US 41/Cleveland Avenue while crews install water main pipe across the roadway.
- Motorists should expect Carrell Road closed at US 41/Cleveland Avenue on Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13.
Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have the majority of construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Construction will begin on the first segment from Winkler Avenue to Carrell Road. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion date is the end of spring 2022. The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
SR 884/Colonial Boulevard over the Ten Mile Canal: Construction project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. while crews make improvements to the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution as crews work near the roadway. Estimated project completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Seacoast Construction Group.
SR 884/Colonial Boulevard from Plantation Road to Deer Run Farms Road: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays, for crews to extend a turn lane, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 876/Daniels Parkway from west of I-75 to the Rest Area: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing Daniels Parkway and constructing curb and shoulder during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures through the duration of the project during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Drivers should use caution traveling in this area. Estimated completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Preferred Materials, Inc.
SR 82 from Lee Boulevard/Colonial Boulevard to Shawnee Road: Construction project: Crews are widening SR 82 to six lanes from east of Lee Boulevard to Shawnee Road.
- Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures on SR 82 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
- Meadow Road at Gunnery Road is PERMANENTLY closed.
- A temporary traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Ray Avenue South and Griffin Drive. Motorists should use caution while driving in this area.
Additional work includes construction of a median separating three 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 6.5-foot inside paved shoulders, bike lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side. The project will also add a grass median and LED lighting throughout this segment. The project also includes constructing Florida’s first Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of SR 82 at Daniels Parkway/Gunnery Road. The CFI will ease traffic congestion at the intersection and include multiple signals to reduce turning delays. The expected completion date is end of summer of 2019. The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
SR 82 from Shawnee Road to Alabama Road: Construction project: Crews are improving 3-miles of SR 82 from Shawnee Road to Alabama Road. The project includes expanding the roadway from two to six lanes with a divided median. The project also includes lighting, drainage improvements, 6.5-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, 6.5-foot bike lanes in each direction, a 5-foot concrete sidewalk on the north side of SR 82 and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side of SR 82. Crews are placing embankment on the north side of the roadway to raise the elevation of the proposed roadway. Crews will work Monday through Saturday, daytime hours only. Lane closures are not expected at this time. Estimated project completion is fall 2020. The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
SR 82 from Alabama Road to the Lee/Hendry County line: Construction project: Crews will be widening SR 82 to four lanes from Alabama Road to the Lee/Hendry County line.
- Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures on SR 82 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
- Motorists should expect traffic shifts throughout the duration of the project.
- Motorists should expect Kalamar Drive closed through September 2019.

SR 82/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Rockfill Road to Ortiz Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing SR 82/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and constructing curb and shoulder during daytime and nighttime hours. Work occurs during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures through the duration of the project during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours. Drivers should use caution traveling in this area. Estimated completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Community Asphalt Corporation.
SR 80/1st Street over Billy’s Creek: Construction project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews make improvements to the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution as crews work near the roadway. Estimated project completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Seacoast Construction Group.
SR 78/Bayshore Boulevard from Hart Road to I-75: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews repair sidewalk, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
MANATEE COUNTY
Various locations along SR 684 and US 301: Construction project: Crews are installing new highway lighting at various locations along SR 684 from Gulf Drive to 9th Street W and on US 301 from Tallevast Road to 9thStreet E. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Expected completion is fall 2019. PowerCore, Inc. is the contractor.
I-275 at the Sunshine Skyway Rest Areas in Manatee and Pinellas Counties: Construction project:Improvements include constructing new rest areas and new parking lots with LED lighting, seawall repairs and extending the seawall at the Manatee County rest area to accommodate a new picnic pavilion. There will be a short duration shoulder closure on I-275 northbound at the end of the on-ramp from the Manatee County rest area. This is expected to be in place for one to two hours only, at the beginning of week of July 21 and again during the week of July 28 and will take place off interstate. The Manatee County rest area is closed for renovations. Motorists should use the Pinellas County rest area during this time. The fishing pier will remain open during the closure. Expected completion is spring 2020. David Nelson Construction Company is the contractor.
I-275 Southbound Ramp to I-75 Northbound (Exit 228): Construction project: Crews are replacing the concrete bridge deck on the southbound I-275 ramp to northbound I-75. The I-275 southbound ramp to northbound I-75 will remain through the summer. Traffic is being detoured north on US 41/S Tamiami Trail to SR 674/E College Avenue in Hillsborough County. A temporary traffic signal has been installed on US 41 at the southbound I-275 exit. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures on the I-275 southbound ramp to I-75 southbound from 9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning Sunday, August 11 through Saturday, August 17. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures on I-75 northbound and I-75 southbound between Moccasin Wallow Road and just south of the I-275 interchange from 9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning Sunday, August 11 through Saturday, August 17. Use caution and watch for changes in the traffic pattern. Expected completion is fall 2019. Cone & Graham, Inc. is the contractor.
I-75 at SR 70 Interchange (Exit 217): Construction project: This week, crews will work on widening I-75, the ramps, retaining walls, excavating interchange and SR 70 stormwater ponds and drainage, signals and lighting, and working on the bridges over SR 70 and the Braden River.
- SR 70 eastbound will be closed underneath I-75 during the overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, August 15th, weather permitting, while crews install interstate bridge concrete deck. Beginning at 8 p.m. each evening, crews will close two lanes on SR 70 eastbound, with the total closure beginning at 11 p.m. Weather make-up date, if needed, is Friday, August 16th.
- Motorists wishing to travel SR 70 eastbound are advised take I-75 southbound to Exit 213/University Parkway and return to the interstate northbound and exit at Exit 217/SR 70; or, use local routes.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. (northbound) or 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (southbound) through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 70 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and SR 70 through the duration of the construction.
- Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

US 41 from 301 Boulevard to 21st Avenue: Construction project: Crews are installing concrete traffic separators/directional turn-lanes within the median, resurfacing the roadway, improving drainage, and installing new signing and pavement markings. Expected completion is summer 2019. Blacktip Services Incorporated is the contractor.
SR 789 at the Longboat Key Pass Bridge: Construction project: Crews are making structural, electrical and mechanical repairs on the bridge. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sidewalk closures are also expected during construction. Beginning Monday, August 5, and continuing for the next two weeks, there will be extended bridge openings between midnight and 4 a.m. while the contractor is working. The openings are expected to take up to 30 minutes each occurrence. Southern Road & Bridge, LLC is the contractor. Expected completion is late summer 2019.
SR 64 at Rye Road: Construction project: Crews are constructing a multi-lane roundabout; resurfacing the roadway; improving drainage, and installing new highway lighting and landscaping. A traffic switch has been implemented shifting traffic to the current westbound lanes using temporary crossovers. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction throughout the project limits. Rye Road will remain accessible during this time. The speed limit on State Road 64 will be reduced to 45 mph. IBT Construction is the contractor. Expected completion is late 2019.
SR 43 (10th Street) from 6th Avenue Drive W to 2nd Avenue: Construction project: Crews are making improvements to two railroad crossings, improving drainage, constructing sidewalk, and constructing turn lanes on State Road 43 (10th Street). OKEECHOBEE COUNTY
US 441 SE between canal 59 and SE 66th Avenue: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing a new pumping station including a new driveway connection to US 441 SE. Watch for workers close to the roadway with shoulder closures. Watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the roadway.
US 441 south at NW 2nd Street: Maintenance permit project: Crews are installing underground utilities under the sidewalks on the southbound side of South Parrott Avenue. Sidewalks will be patched with asphalt until all utility work is complete then sidewalks will be restored with concrete. No lane closures will be required. Please watch for trucks and workers close to the roadway.
SR 710 from SR 70 to SE 40th Ave: Utility permit project: Utility work will be conducted in the westbound side of SR 710. Please use caution in these areas and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
SR 70 from NE 34th Avenue to NE 80th Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be working in the ditches and trenches along SR 70 from NE 34th Avenue to NE 80th Avenue to perform drainage improvements in that area. POLK COUNTY
East Johnson Avenue (CR 580) from US 17/92 to North 24th Street: Construction project: Watch for daytime shoulder closures as crews place sod and install fencing. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.
- This project includes adding sidewalk on the north side of East Johnson Avenue from US 17/92 to North 20th Street and on the south side of East Johnson Street from US 17/92 to North 24th Street. Crews will also pave East Johnson Street from US 17/92 to 18th Street and reconstruct side street and driveway entrances throughout the project. The contractor is Central Concrete Products, Inc. Expected completion is fall 2019.
I-4 at mile marker 46 (rest area): Construction project: Crews are installing a parking detection system in the eastbound and westbound rest stop truck parking areas. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the rest area and near the roadway.
I-4 at mile marker 41 (SR 570 Polk Parkway Westbound): Workers will perform standard penetration test boring from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the I-4 eastbound and westbound exit ramps onto the Polk Parkway. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.
I-4 at mile marker 33 (SR 33/CR 582 Socrum Loop Road): Workers will be performing standard penetration test boring from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the I-4 eastbound and westbound exit ramps onto SR 33. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.
I-4 at mile marker 33 (SR 33/CR 582 Socrum Loop Road): Construction project: There are no scheduled lane closures at this time. This project includes installing wrong-way detection on the I-4 off ramps including at SR 33/CR 582 as a safety measure to help prevent wrong-way events. These sites consist of a static sign and red flashing beacons that turn on when a motorist travels in the opposite direction of traffic which then sends an automated alert to the FDOT District 7 SunGuide Center. SR 544 (Havendale Boulevard) from US 92 in Auburndale to US 17 in Winter Haven: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for intermittent shoulder and lane closures with workers close to the road and trucks entering and leaving the roadway, as crews repair sidewalks, driveways and trip hazards. Use caution and be prepared to merge. The contractor is Evans Contracting Services.
SR 542 from 1st Street to Buckeye Loop Road: Construction project: Use caution when entering and exiting driveways onto SR 542 (Dundee Road) as some driveways may be closed or narrowed during pipe and utility installation. Access to residences and businesses may be changed slightly but will be maintained at all times.
Watch for workers close to the road as crews continue installing underground utilities, working on embankment, roadway base and installing storm water structures, sewage lines, lighting conduit and bases.
This project includes widening and adding a center turn lane, sidewalk and bike lanes; upgrading existing signal equipment; placing two mid-block crosswalks; and installing new water and sewer lines. Expected completion is fall 2020.

SR 60 west of Dude Ranch Road: Maintenance permit: Crews from Cemex Inc. are scheduled to move a dredge across SR 60 west of Dude Ranch Road at night/overnight from 9 p.m., Monday, August 12 to 5 a.m., Tuesday, August 13.
- SR 60 will be CLOSED to through traffic with all traffic detoured. Motorists heading south on US 27 or east on SR 60 will detour south at US 27 to CR 630, then east back to SR 60. Traffic headed west on SR 60 will detour south on CR 630 to US 27, then north back to SR 60. The detour will add approximately eight and a half miles to normal travel on SR 60, so add extra time in your schedule to reach your destination.
A local traffic detour will be provided for those living/working between US 27 and CR 630 who need to get from one side of Dude Ranch Road to the other. Westbound traffic will detour north on Alcoma Road, west on Lake Park Road, north on Mammoth Grove Road following it around to head south on Stokes Road back to SR 60. Eastbound follows the detour in the opposite direction.
SR 60 from Myrtle Avenue to Dude Ranch Road: Construction project: Watch for daytime lane and shoulder closures for paving, weather permitting. Use caution and be prepared to merge. This project includes milling and resurfacing, widening, shoulder work, drainage improvements, guardrail, signing and pavement marking. The contractor is Lakeland Paving Company. Expected completion is fall 2019.
SR 37 from Manatee County Line to SR 674: Crews are placing signs and erosion control devices. This project includes resurfacing, paving side street connections, drainage improvements and shoulder work. The contractor is Hubbard Construction Company Expected completion is early 2020.
SR 37 at Fitzgerald Road: Maintenance permit project: Watch for northbound nighttime/overnight lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as crews add a new driveway entrance onto SR 37 and repave the right turn lane. The contractor is Martin Paving. Expected completion is fall 2019.
SR 37 from Cresap Street to north of West 3rd Street: Construction project: Watch for intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures as crews repair sidewalks and miscellaneous items to complete the project. The system is now operating to alert motorists as a train approaches the crossing on South Florida Avenue in downtown Lakeland. This project includes design and installation of an intelligent transportation system (ITS) to provide a rail bypass system in the City of Lakeland. Florida Safety Contractors is the contractor. Expected completion is summer 2019.
SR 37 (Florida Avenue) at Orange Street: Maintenance permits project: The southbound left turn lane from Florida Avenue to Orange Street remains closed for a City of Lakeland sidewalk enhancement project on Orange Street. Motorists turning east onto Orange Street will be detoured to Lime Street. Use caution and follow the posted detour.
SR 33 (Lakeland Hills Boulevard) from US 92 (Memorial Boulevard) to Socrum Loop Road: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for intermittent nighttime/overnight shoulder and lane closures with workers close to the road and trucks entering and exiting the roadway as crews video and desilt the drainage system. SARASOTA COUNTY
US 301 from SR 780 (Fruitville Road) to 10th Street: Construction project: Crews are making median modifications, installing traffic separators, constructing turn-lanes, improving drainage, and constructing sidewalk. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Expected completion is late summer 2019. AJAX Paving Industries of Florida is the contractor.
US 41 Roundabouts at 10th Street and 14th Street, Sarasota: Construction project: Crews continue work within the right-of-way, medians and driveways.
- Brick pavers are expected to be installed along US41 on the west side and on 14th Street.
- Roadway base work is expected at the SW and SE corner of 14th Street.
- Night work is expected at 10th and 11th Street for water-main tie-ins. This work is tentatively scheduled and is dependent on weather and local agency approvals. Expect backup alarms, excavators, pumps while work is being performed. Hours of activity are expected 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Light pole installation and sidewalk installation expected at 14th Street. Expect concrete trucks entering and exiting the construction zone.
- A new traffic pattern on west side of 10th Street is implemented. Travel lanes have been slightly shifted north. There will be only one lane going east and one lane going west during the temporary phase.
- New boat ramp driveway is open. Use caution as the wider driveway is intended for both entering and exiting traffic
- Pedestrian crossings on 14th Street/Imperial Drive at US 41 have been reconfigured around the work zone. Pedestrians are advised to use the designated sidewalks and cross walks.
- Pedestrian crosswalks and stop bar on the south bound lanes at 14th Street are marked. For the safety of pedestrians, motorists are urged to stop at the designated stop bar.
- Centennial Park Boat Ramp driveway on 10th Street will be closed. Motorists can access the boat ramp via the US 41 entrance. Northbound left turn lane from US 41 into the boat ramp is available.
- The traffic pattern will be limited to right turn in/out for 11th, 12th and 13th Street. Traveling southbound and northbound direction left turns are not permitted at 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th Streets. Motorists are advised to follow the posted signs.
- Temporary detour route in effect. Use Cocoanut Avenue as alternate route to access 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Street. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route and seek an alternate route while traveling in this area.
- Speed limit is reduced to 30 mph. Speeding fines are doubled in the construction area when workers are present.
Improvements being made as part of this project consist of reconstructing the signalized intersections and replacing them with roundabouts, enhancing connectivity, circulation and safety. US 41 will be widened between the two intersections and will include bike lanes as well as dedicated turn lanes, a 10-foot sidewalk along the west side, and a 6-foot sidewalk along the east side. Other improvements include raised islands for pedestrian refuge at the intersections of US 41 at 10th Street and 14th Street, pedestrian signals, LED street lights, landscaping, and City of Sarasota utility and underground drainage structure replacements. Expected completion is spring 2020. The contractor is IBT Construction LLC.
US 41 from Hospital Road to River Road: Maintenance permit project: Crews are constructing new turn-lanes, driveway connections, and working in the medians. Expect intermittent north and southbound daytime lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday, August 16. Use caution and expect possible delays.
US 41 from McIntosh Road to Beneva Road: Construction project: Crews are constructing sidewalk and bicycle lanes, improving drainage, reconstructing the US 41 southbound bridge over Catfish Creek south of Central Sarasota Parkway, installing highway lighting, upgrading signals, and installing new signing and pavement markings. Paving operations are expected to begin Sunday, August 11 and continue throughout the week.
- Northbound nighttime/overnight lane closures may occur between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- Southbound nighttime/overnight lane closures may occur between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m.
- The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph within the construction zone.
Motorists should use caution and obey the posted speed limit. Expected completion is fall 2019. The contractor is Morrison-Cobalt JV.
US 41 from Tuscola Boulevard to Ortiz Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are constructing a multi-use path; installing bus pads and shelters; improving drainage; constructing/replacing sidewalk; installing guardrail and highway lighting, and installing new signing and pavement markings. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Daytime lane closures between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. are possible. Lane closures within 600 feet of signalized intersections are not permitted between 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Florida Safety Contractors, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is summer 2019.
US 41 (Venice Bypass) from Center Road from to Gulf Coast Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are widening US 41 from Center Road to Gulf Coast Boulevard to a six-lane highway; replacing traffic signals, installing new pavement markings and signage; installing concrete curb, sidewalks; improving new drainage, and installing new highway lighting. Use caution and watch for changes in the traffic pattern. Bergeron Land Development, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is spring 2021.
- Beginning Tuesday, May 28 at 7 a.m., Seaboard Avenue will be closed to thru traffic while workers complete drainage improvements. Motorists should use Spur Street as a detour route. Traffic is anticipated to switch back to Seaboard Avenue on Wednesday, August 21.
- Expect northbound and southbound nighttime lane closures on US 41 between Center Road and Gulf Coast Boulevard from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, August 4 through Thursday, August 15.
- Expect a new change in traffic pattern for northbound and southbound traffic on US 41 between Center Road and Gulf Coast Boulevard beginning Wednesday, August 14.
SR 776 (Indiana Avenue) at CR 777 (Dearborn Street): Construction project: Crews are making pedestrian and ADA improvements, vehicle detection overhead traffic signal modifications, sidewalk enhancements and installing highway lighting. Expect northbound lane closures from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. and southbound lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Expected completion is summer 2019. Contact Network LLC is the contractor.
SR 72 at various locations: Construction project: Crews are installing highway lighting and constructing sidewalk along SR 72 at Frontage Road; Gantt Road; Honore Avenue; McIntosh Road; Sawyer Road; Beneva Road; Lockwood Ridge Road; Swift Road, Gateway Avenue, and at the Sarasota Pavilion entrance.
