Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Three to the Florida Board of Medicine

Governor Ron DeSantis today announced the appointments of Dr. Zachariah Zachariah, Dr. Scott Ackerman and Dr. David Diamond to the Florida Board of Medicine.

Dr. Zachariah Zachariah
Zachariah, of Fort Lauderdale, is a cardiologist and internal medicine doctor. He is the Medical Director at UHealth Cardiology, Fort Lauderdale and a member of the clinical faculty at the University of Miami. He received his medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College in India and completed his residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. He served as Chairman of the Florida Board of Medicine from 1990-1992, 2000-2001 and 2013-2014. Zachariah is appointed to a four-year term. 

Dr. Scott Ackerman
Ackerman, of Jacksonville, is a radiation oncologist and Medical Director at Ackerman Cancer Center. He received his medical degree from Ross University in Miramar, Florida and completed his residency with Columbia University Medical Center in New York. Ackerman has made significant contributions to Florida’s fight against cancer and is a strong believer in patient advocacy, community outreach and individualized patient care. He also oversees the First Coast Cancer Foundation and is a board member of WeCare Jacksonville. Ackerman is appointed to a four-year term.

Dr. David Diamond
Diamond, of Winter Park, is a radiation oncologist at Florida Radiation Oncology (Winter Park). Diamond earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and his medical degree from the University of Florida. He completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and his radiation oncology training at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Washington University School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology, where is served on the Board of Chancellors for 6 years. Diamond is appointed to a four-year term.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
