Governor Ron DeSantis today announced the appointment of Nichole “Nikki” Alvarez-Sowles as Pasco County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. Ms. Alvarez-Sowles has been serving in this role as the Ad Interim Pasco County Clerk of the Court and Comptroller since July.
“Nikki’s commitment to serving the hardworking people of Pasco County shines brightest through her steady leadership and unwavering work ethic,” said Senator Wilton Simpson. “On behalf of the people of Pasco County, I want to thank Governor DeSantis for ensuring an honorable public servant takes the reigns here in Pasco.”

Prior to serving as Clerk of Court, Alvarez-Sowles, of Land O’ Lakes, held the position of Pasco County Clerk’s office chief operations officer from 2010-2019 and was the criminal courts director from 2009-2010. From 2000-2005, she was an attorney with Echevarria, Codilis & Stawiarski, P.I., a Tampa-based real estate law firm. She spent a year as real estate development manager for Housing & Education Alliance, Inc., a non-profit organization. Alvarez-Sowles earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of South Florida and her juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Alvarez-Sowles is appointed to the position vacated by Paula O’Neil.
