League thanks Gov. DeSantis for decision on joining ERIC

Posted on August 22, 2019

On Wednesday, the League of Women Voters of Florida sent the following letter to Governor Ron DeSantis regarding his administration’s decision to enter Florida into the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC).

Dear Gov. DeSantis,

On behalf of the board of directors of the League of Women Voters of Florida, I thank you and Secretary of State Laurel Lee for your administration’s decision to enter Florida into the multistate partnership known as the Electronic Information Registration Center (ERIC).

With Florida entering membership, ERIC will now comprise of 29 states and the District of Columbia. Membership will only increase approaching the 2020 general election and beyond, leading to additional information sharing between states and heightened confidence in the integrity of our voter rolls. Outreach and education to the estimated 4.1 million eligible but unregistered voters in Florida, a requirement of membership, is also a significant cause for celebration.

Americans of all political beliefs agree that accurate and up-to-date voter registration information is essential for a healthy democracy. Thank you for taking this step to ensure the integrity of Florida’s voter rolls.

Sincerely,

Patricia Brigham
President
