Longtime Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier Souto on Tuesday endorsed Omar Blanco in the Republican Primary for Florida’s 26th Congressional District.
Souto, who was first elected into office in 1993, is Blanco’s first public endorsement.
“Commissioner Souto has been a crucial Conservative voice for West Dade for the last three decades,” Blanco said. “I’m honored to have his support and will rely on his knowledge and experience in public service when I go to Washington, D.C.”
Added Souto: “Omar is the strong Republican voice we need in Washington to represent West Dade. His problem-solving and lead-from-the-front mentality will serve District 26 well. I will be proud to call him my Congressman.”
Souto represents District 10, which includes portions of Kendall, Westchester and Fontainebleau.
