Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Two to the Seminole State College District Board of Trustees

Governor Ron DeSantis today announced the appointments of Bob Cortes and Susan Fernandez to the Seminole State College District Board of Trustees.

Bob Cortes
Cortes, of Altamonte Springs, is the senior administrator for government affairs for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. He served for two terms in the Florida House of Representatives, from 2014 to 2018, and was appointed vice chair of the Education Committee. Prior to his time in the state legislature, he was a commissioner for the city of Longwood and became the first Mayor of Puerto Rican descent in Seminole County. He was named one of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando. Cortes is appointed to a four-year term.

Susan Fernandez
Fernandez, of Sanford, is the senior director of communications and government relations at Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas. She served as the regional director for the Office of United States Senator Marco Rubio from 2010 until 2014. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Rollins College. Fernandez is appointed to a four-year term.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
