Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz on Wednesday endorsed Omar Blanco in the Congressional District 26 Republican Primary. Diaz is the third Miami-Dade Commissioner to announce his public support for Blanco, and the fourth endorsement in the last week.
“I am proud to endorse Omar Blanco for Congress,” Diaz said. “He will fight for District 26 in Washington to ensure our voices are heard.”
Added Blanco: “Pepe and I have a long history of joining forces to help our communities. I am honored to have his support on my campaign.”
Diaz, who serves as the Commissioner for District 12, was first elected in September 2002 and was re-elected to a fifth term in 2018. He also served as the Vice Chairman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners from 2009 to 2010.
Diaz’s district includes the cities of Doral, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Sweetwater, Virginia Gardens and a large portion of unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
