The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting a public workshop for the intersection improvement project at North Courtenay Parkway (State Road (S.R.) 3) at Mustang Way/Lucas Road. The intent of this project is to improve the safety of the intersection by providing accessible pedestrian signal features and realignment of the crosswalk approaches. Additional improvements include milling and resurfacing, traffic signal replacement, new pedestrian lighting and safety enhancement signs, driveway modifications, turning radius improvements, drainage improvements, re-striping with special emphasis markings, and relocation of the signal control box to improve the visibility of pedestrians.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center, 400 South Sykes Creek Parkway, Merritt Island, FL 32952. The workshop will be an open house format with display boards. FDOT staff and the consultant team will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

Persons with disabilities who require accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should contact Gene Varano, FDOT District Five Project Manager, by phone at 386-943-5145, or via email at [email protected] at least seven (7) days prior to the meeting. If you are hearing or speech impaired, please contact us by using the Florida Relay Service, 1-800-955-8771 (TTY) or 1-800-955-8770 (Voice).

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Persons wishing to express their concerns relative to FDOT compliance with Title VI may do so by contacting Jennifer Smith, FDOT District Five Title VI Coordinator, at [email protected].

Media inquiries should be directed to the FDOT Communications Office at [email protected] or by phone at 386-943-5479. Project information is also available online at CFLRoads.com.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
