Former Florida State Sen. Miguel Diaz de la Portilla, who served in the Senate from 2010 to 2016, is the latest to endorse Omar Blanco in the Republican Primary for Florida’s 26th Congressional District.
Miguel Diaz de la Portilla is the sixth public endorsement received by Omar Blanco in the Republican Primary, joining Florida State Sen. Anitere Flores and four Miami-Dade County Commissioners.
“Omar is ready to fight for District 26 in Washington from day one,” Diaz de la Portilla said. “He has my full endorsement for Congress, and I look forward to collaborating on solutions for the betterment of our country.”
“Miguel has always been a teammate for firefighters in Tallahassee, and I am honored to have his endorsement for Congress,” Blanco said. “He is a statesman in our community, and I will lean on his experience and guidance throughout the campaign.”
Diaz de la Portilla, a Republican, represented parts of Miami, Coral Gables and surrounding areas while serving in the Senate. He also served on the Miami-Dade County Commission from 1993 to 2000, representing West Kendall, which is part of Congressional District 26.
