President Galvano Announces Appointment of Commissioner Betsy Benac to the Florida Greenways and Trails Council

Posted on September 10, 2019

Florida Senate President Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton) today announced the appointment of Manatee County Commissioner Betsy Benac to the Florida Greenways and Trails Council as a Trail User.

“I am pleased to have Commissioner Betsy Benac serve as a Trail User on the Florida Greenways and Trails Council,” said President Galvano. “She is an advocate for family and community activities that showcase Florida’s beautiful environment, and a dedicated public servant with an extensive background and skillset pertaining to planning and environmental design. I am confident Commissioner Benac will serve this Council well.”

Commissioner Benac was elected to the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners in 2012. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and earned a certification as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional. She is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Bradenton, Manatee Chamber of Commerce, and the Florida Planning and Zoning Association.

The Florida Greenways and Trails Council was established pursuant to 260.0142, Florida Statutes. Among its duties, the Council serves to advise the Florida Department of Environmental Protection on greenway and trail related issues, promote intergovernmental cooperation and private partnerships for developing the greenways and trails system, recommend priorities for critical links in the system, and provide funding recommendations for developing and managing the system.
