Senator Linda Stewart (D-Orlando) today will join other local leaders and youth organizers to bring awareness to the global issues caused by climate change.
“For two decades, I have been engaged in climate concerns, I have fought for land preservation here in the State of Florida that would also help preserve our water resources,” said Stewart.
For the 2020 session, Senator Stewart will have a resolution that would require legislators in the State of Florida to acknowledge climate change as a real issue and develop policies that will work to fight its effects.
“The first problem at hand is elected legislators refusing to accept that climate change exists. Increased frequency of hurricanes, deaths of coral reefs, and the rise of the sea level that threatens coastal communities, are just a few examples of catastrophic events caused by an increase in global temperatures. We must work to address these issues and preserve not only our state, but our planet,” said Stewart.
