Lawmakers to Discuss Key Senior Living Issues at Town Hall

Posted on September 23, 2019

Sinai Residences, in collaboration with LeadingAge Florida, Jewish Family Services, the Jewish Federation and Life Care Services, will host a Senior Living Town Hall with federal and state lawmakers on October 2, 2019, to discuss important issues for older Floridians. The event will run from 1:15 to 3 p.m. EST.

“This event is an excellent opportunity for our residents to build relationships with their local legislators and have their voices heard on issues that matter most to them,” said Chris Newport, Executive Director of Sinai Residences. “Having a presence and consistently communicating key issues with legislators is critical to bringing about important change.”

“We are very pleased to host and co-sponsor this opportunity for local seniors to learn and be heard on issues of interest and concern, and to get to know their state and federal elected officials,” said Matthew C. Levin, President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County. “Our Federation is continually engaged in advocacy for our seniors. We look forward to having our residents join us in that effort.”

“Face-to-face interaction and conversation with legislators or their staff are the most effective forms of advocacy,” said Steve Bahmer, President and CEO of LeadingAge Florida. “Our members and their residents are best positioned to help legislators understand the issues that senior living providers and older Floridians face and how legislators can help meet those needs. We are proud to be a partner in this important event.”

State and federal lawmakers in attendance will include:

  • Rep. Tina Polsky
  • Rep. Mike Caruso
  • Sen. Lori Berman
  • Rep. David Silvers
  • Congresswoman Lois Frankel
  • Congressman Ted Deutch

Location: Zinman Hall | 9901 Donna Klein Blvd. | Boca Raton, FL 33428

The event is free to the general public, but reservations are required by calling the Senior Living Town Hall Hot Line at 561-757-2464. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. EST, and a valid driver’s license is required for campus entry.
