FDLE agents arrested Chasitie Hart, 22, of 813 E. Magnolia Drive, Tallahassee for one count of organized scheme to defraud over $50,000.00.
The investigation began in July 2019 when a Tallahassee vehicle dealership provided information to FDLE that indicated Hart had stolen approximately $90,000.00 over the course of two and a half years while employed there. The investigation identified numerous occurrences where Hart would make false entries into the dealership’s accounting system to conceal the theft of funds.
One of Hart’s methods to conceal funds included taking cash collected during a vehicle sale and applying it to a separate customer’s account from which she had previously taken money. Hart used this method to purchase a personal vehicle for herself in October 2018. The thefts impacted the business, but not the customers.
Hart turned herself in to authorities on Thursday and was booked into the Leon County Jail. The Office of the State Attorney, 2nd Judicial Circuit, will prosecute this case.
