Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Mary Mayhew today released the below video recognizing Mental Illness Awareness Week.
Mental Illness Awareness Week is from October 6 – 12, 2019, and World Mental Health Day is on October 10, 2019. AHCA is joining the National Alliance on Mental Illness to raise awareness of mental illness, educate the public, fight stigma and provide support.
Building upon the bold leadership of Governor DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis, the Agency has worked to better coordinate efforts across state government, to identify gaps in access to behavioral health services and begin reducing the stigmas around discussing mental health issues as part of the Hope for Healing Florida initiative.
In Florida, if you need someone to talk to who can understand what you are dealing with, dial 211 today, and you will be connected to resources and services right in your community.
The Agency for Health Care Administration is committed to better health care for all Floridians. The Agency administers Florida’s Medicaid program, licenses and regulates more than 48,000 health care facilities and 47 health plans, and publishes health care data and statistics at FloridaHealthFinder.gov. Additional information about Agency initiatives is available via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
