FDLE promotes Cybersecurity Awareness Month with BusinesSafe initiative

Posted on October 9, 2019

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is promoting National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) through its BusinesSafe newsletters for October. This month’s topics include information technology and business email compromise.

FDLE’s BusinesSafe initiative aims to educate Florida’s private entity critical infrastructure components about potential threats and how to protect against them. Among the program’s features are regularly scheduled emails addressing topics such as information technology, financial scams, ransomware, and safeguarding against terror threats.

While BusinesSafe is geared toward Florida’s private sector critical infrastructure and business community, much of the information and tools offered by the initiative are also useful for members of the general public, including tips on how to avoid falling victim to trending scam types and how to safeguard your personal data online. More cybersecurity information for members of the public can be found at secureflorida.org.
