The League of Women Voters of Florida (LWVFL) has teamed with Capitol Alliance Group, Tallahassee, to manage its legislative priorities for the 2019 legislative session. In the past, the league has engaged a single legislative representative to cover a broad variety of priorities.
“This is a new model for the League,” said League President Patti Brigham. “The team at Capitol Alliance will provide greater coverage for us with policy makers and provide years of experience to our lobby corps of volunteer League members.”
The 2019 LWVFL priorities can be found at lwvfl.org.
“We are excited about the opportunity to help communicate and advocate the League’s legislative priorities for this years legislative session,” said Capitol Alliance Group Managing Partner Jeff Sharkey. “We totally support their commitment to ensuring Floridians‘ fundamental rights to fair and open elections and look forward to working with their hundreds of volunteer advocates this session.”
The LWVFL developed out the suffrage movement and today represents a grassroots network of more than 29 local Leagues statewide striving to promote engaged citizenship. Members hold candidate forums, issue Voter Guides to inform citizens on local races and ballot amendments, and sponsor public forums for both policy makers and citizens to broaden understanding of key issues.
