Governor Ron DeSantis today announced the appointment of Shirley D. Joseph as the Madison County Superintendent of Schools. She is appointed to the position vacated by Dr. Karen Pickles.

Joseph, of Madison, is the interim superintendent for Madison County Schools. She has served in various roles in K-12 public education including teacher, instructional coach, principal and district administrator. She is the vice chair for the Madison County Health and Hospital Board where she has served since 2004. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s degree from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University.
