FAMU Suspends Operations 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday as Inclement Weather Approaches

Florida A&M University (FAMU) has announced the suspension of operations at the Tallahassee and Crestview campuses from 8 p.m. EDT Friday to 8 p.m. EDT Saturday due to inclement weather as a result of the passage of the tropical system.

For the students who live in the residence halls, the main dining room will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. All retail locations will be closed. The Venom Express shuttle will run an extra hour to accommodate the extended hours Saturday.

Normal campus operations will resume at 8 p.m. Saturday.

FAMU employees are securing the campus in anticipation of high winds and rain. All essential personnel are expected to be available.

The FAMU football game against N.C. A&T State University has been postponed until 2 p.m. Sunday. The President’s Pregame Tailgate has been canceled; however, the on-field presentation recognizing breast cancer researchers and breast cancer survivors will be held. Bragg Stadium Parking lots will open three hours before game time. The Lawson Center Box Office will open at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Following is a list of other schedule changes:

Athletics: The volleyball match versus Coppin State has been moved to 6 p.m. Friday. The volleyball match versus Morgan State has been moved to 11 a.m. Sunday. Those attending the match at the Lawson Multipurpose Center & Teaching Gymnasium can use the Wahnish Way Parking Garage. The Sunday afternoon softball triple-header has been canceled.

The Essential Theatre: The Friday performance of “King Hedley” has been canceled. The Saturday and Sunday matinee performances have been moved to 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday, respectively.

School of Nursing: Clinicals for FAMU nursing students at Capital Regional Medical Center and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare are canceled 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Crestview: The FAMU Pharmacy Fourth Annual Health Fair in Crestview has been canceled.

The FAMU community is asked to monitor weather forecasts and proceed with caution.
