Senator Lauren Book Reacts to Scot Peterson Motion to Drop Charges

Posted on October 29, 2019

Senator Book reacts to the news that attorneys for former BSO Deputy Scot Peterson have filed a motion to dismiss criminal charges against him, arguing the state can’t blame Peterson for following training that was later deemed inadequate.

“This is exactly what I warned against on the Senate floor. As a result of wrongfully removing the Sheriff, the man second most culpable for the murder of 17 innocent individuals – a cowardly accomplice to murder- may walk free and receive his pension.”

About State Senator Lauren Book

After surviving childhood sexual abuse, Book went on to become an internationally-recognized child safety expert and child advocate. She sits on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Commission and has been a leading voice on the issue in the Florida State Senate.
