The University of North Florida’s Coggin College of Business ranked No. 5 among the 48 Top-Ranked Colleges for Financial Planning by Wealth Management magazine.
UNF outranked other well-known universities like Stetson, Purdue and Clemson to top the list of best programs in the U.S.
“At a recent national industry conference, our students were approached by numerous employers regarding this distinguished ranking,” said Ron Heymann, UNF Financial Planning Program director and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). “This boosts our program into the national spotlight and reflects the passion and dedication of our faculty and students.”
UNF’s Financial Planning Program is one of only a few degree programs in Florida that meets the educational requirements to sit for the CFP Exam. CFP certification is generally recognized as the highest standard in the personal financial planning industry. UNF’s courses are taught by industry professionals who are mostly CFPs and carry vast experience in the field. Program alumni have secured jobs at JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Fidelity and other prestigious firms.
Graduate and undergraduate students gain real-world experience with managing money as part of the Osprey Financial Group, a student managed investment fund. Students also have opportunities to network and learn from a wide range of professionals through events hosted by the Financial Planning Association student chapter.
To rank the on-campus, full-time, four-year programs of study for financial planning, 109 colleges and universities registered by the CFP Board were surveyed. Wealth Management ranked the programs on a weighted average of degrees granted, number of full-time faculty equivalents, faculty with advanced degrees, capstone course offered and CFP certified faculty teaching the Capstone course, ratio of faculty with earned CFP certification, number of CFP completions reported to CFP Board in academic year 2018, minimum number of courses required to graduate and number of elective courses offered beyond the minimums required by CFP Board.
