Governor Ron DeSantis today joined United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Secretary Elaine Chao to announce Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grant recipients from Florida and across the nation. The Governor was also joined by Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Secretary Kevin Thibault and local officials.
“Florida knows firsthand the tremendous impact BUILD grants have in creating a modern, robust transportation system,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “As Governor, I remain committed to ensuring Florida has a multimodal transportation system that reduces congestion and improves safety, while leveraging technology. Thank you, Secretary Chao, for continuing to support transportation in Florida, and throughout the country.”

The BUILD Transportation Discretionary Grant recipients in Florida include:
- Jaxport – $20 million grant for the reconstruction of more than 100 acres of existing terminal pavement at the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.
- Miami Underline – $22.3 million grant for the design and construction of enhancements for The Underline, a 10-mile linear park underneath the Metrorail guideway.
- Lake Nona – $20 million grant for a state-of-the-art performance, wellness and medically integrated fitness center featuring walking and bike paths, streets scapes and autonomous vehicle infrastructure.
