From 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 to 6:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, motorists traveling on U.S. 17-92 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard (County Road (C.R.) 427) should expect traffic pattern changes including detours and lane closures. The detours are as follows:

Motorists traveling on Ronald Reagan Boulevard approaching U.S. 17-92:

The outside left turn lane on eastbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard approaching U.S. 17-92 will be closed.

The inside left thru lane approaching U.S. 17-92 from westbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard and the inside merge lane past U.S. 17-92 will also be closed. These lane closures will allow construction crews to construct a median west of U.S. 17-92 and should not impact the flow of traffic along C.R. 427.

No detours will be required for these lane closures. Traffic will flow as normal in each direction and channeling devices will be used to direct motorists through the intersection.

Motorists traveling northbound on U.S. 17-92:

The dual left turn lanes to westbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard from northbound U.S 17-92 will be closed. During the work, drivers on northbound U.S. 17-92 needing to turn left on westbound Ronald Reagan will be directed to turn left on Silkwood Court and then turn left on Ronald Reagan Boulevard to complete the detour. These detours will allow crews to place concrete in the closed lanes.

Motorists traveling southbound on U.S. 17-92:

The left turn lane into the entrance of the Parks Lincoln of Longwood car dealership will be closed. Drivers needing to access this business should make a U-turn at State Road (S.R.) 419 and turn right into the entrance. Drivers exiting the car dealership should continue north on U.S. 17-92 and make a U-turn at Weldon Boulevard and turn right onto westbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard.

Access for businesses will be maintained throughout the closures. Please see the attached maps for additional details on lane closures and detours.

Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct motorists safely around the traffic changes.

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen U.S. 17-92 from four to six lanes from Shepard Road to Lake Mary Boulevard. Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Media inquiries should be directed to the FDOT Communications Office at [email protected] or by phone at 386-943-5593. Project information is also available online at CFLRoads.com.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
