Medicaid Day of Action Will Highlight Urgent Need to Expand Healthcare for 450,000 Floridians Stuck in Coverage Gap

Posted on January 27, 2020

MEDIA ADVISORY

Nearly 2,800 older Floridians have died an early death because the Florida Legislature stubbornly refuses to expand affordable healthcare in the Sunshine State.

And each day that Florida does not expand, lawmakers continue to needlessly put the health and lives of hundreds of thousands of adults stuck in the “coverage gap” at risk.

To focus attention on these urgent life and death issues, and discuss legislation that will stop insurance companies from dropping coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, state Senator Annette Taddeo and Representative Nick Duran will join health advocates, medical professionals, and local impacted residents in a press conference on Wednesday.

WHO: Senator Annette Taddeo
Representative Nick Duran
Anne Swerlick, Florida Policy Institute
Scott Darius, Florida Voices for Health
Kip Corriveau, Bon Secours Health
Deborah Lloyd, Consumer

WHAT: Press conference and media availability featuring Floridians in the coverage gap and advocates.

WHEN: Wednesday, January 29, 2020 @ 2:30 pm

WHERE: Florida Capital Building, in front of the Senate Chamber
