U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) today released the following statement after President Donald Trump’s announcement that his Administration was requesting $250 million in funding for Everglades restoration:

“The importance of President Trump’s decision to request a record-setting $250 million for Everglades restoration cannot be overstated. This historic level of funding is exactly what we need to continue building momentum, protecting our ecosystems and stopping harmful discharges,” Rep. Mast said. “With President Trump’s support, I’m hopeful that we can get the EAA Southern Storage Reservoir built ahead of schedule.”

This announcement comes just weeks after Rep. Mast sent a letter to President Trump urging his Administration to request $250 million for Everglades funding in his budget.  A timeline of Rep. Mast’s efforts to secure funding last year is available here.
