Florida Federation of Republican Women Wave in Support of e-Verify

Posted on February 28, 2020

FFRW is proud to have supported the efforts of Representative Cord Byrd, and Heather Fitzenhagen to pass HB 1265 out of the last House Committee of reference. It is now ready to be presented to the Florida House. The e-verify bill is important to us because it adds another layer of protection to Florida families without interfering with the ability to allow farm workers to continue coming to Florida through agricultural work visas.

This bill requires public employers, contractors, and subcontractors to use E-Verify system for specified purposes; prohibits such entities from entering into contract unless each party to contract uses E-Verify system; authorized termination of contract; requires private employers to verify employment eligibility of newly hired employees; provides acceptable methods for verification; provides specified immunity; creates rebuttable presumption for private employers.

The Florida Federation of Republican Women empowers women from all backgrounds in the political process and provides a forum for women to serve as leaders in the political, government, and civic arenas.
